Subject: I Needz Helpz Wit Da K/D

I've slowly been raising my k/d from 0.40 to 1.00, but it's taking me longer. When my brother plays he dies more than he kills so it drops back down. I realize it doesn't raise or lower quickly, but does anyone have any tricks?

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Don't blindly rush into situations where you're going to be killed.

Play living dead.

  • 11.28.2011 2:43 PM PDT

I've heard both tips. I am more stealthy now and use the sniper more often(when I find it) but I'm not a big fan of Living Dead. Does it really work?

This. Don't try to kill so much, just try not to die.

Yeah it does. You have a shotgun, a pistol, and it's basically one shot with shotgun and 1 shot with pistol. Use your pistol for far away, and shotgun for close. You really start to rack up kills. Trust me.

QFT. A death avoided is as good as a kill gained in a close race to 50.

I would play a lot of Invasion. That is partially the reason why I have a higer K/D.

Actually, just play objective gametypes and do not play the objective, just go for the kills. After so long your K/D will rise rather quickly, but considering that you mentioned your brother and how he dies very frequently, it may be challenging for you to keep yourself positive.

PSR = (((K+A)/D)*Win%)*120
The average player's PSR = 100

Keep your distance - Halo is not a punching game, don't try to turn it into one.

Avoid situations where you are outnumbered, and always try to stick with a team mate.

Get good with precision weapons - the is what primarily separates the good players from the bad. If you can get consistent with precision weapons you will get better at the game in general, and when you get better your k/d naturally goes up.

Play Living Dead, As a human you get kill a bunch of kills but as a zombie you can die a whole lot so it you play as a zombie just hide somewhere. In other playlists, get better with your dmr and sniper. Time your grenades and go for the power weapons. Rockets, sword, sniper, no matter how cheap people think they are take them and use them.

I agree 4-1 is way better than 17-12

Living is more important than getting kills.
Also, play like every life/spawn is your last.

Try not to worry about your k/d and play for fun, k/d means nothing as long as your having a good time.

From when i bought reach the week it came out to only a few months ago, my K/D hovered at a dismal 1.25.

After a while, I just started playing more carefully, and began running when I noticed a situation that I clearly couldn't win. There are also a few tricks to help your survivability, like hanging at the edge of a fight and picking off headshots, then ducking away when you start to get noticed.

Its also smart to, if your running away from an enemy around a corner, drop a grenade right at the edge, timing it so that it blows right as he steps over it, almost guaranteeing you a kill. All but the best players will fall for this. Skillful grenade and DMR use in general helps.

If you play a lot of BTB, try to realize that you can get quite a few kills by just staying under cover, and taking unsuspecting people out with a DMR, then retreating when they start to get mad. If you do use vehicles, be smart about it, and don't let yourself get surrounded: always leave an escape method available.

If you're playing objective, rather than blindly trying to score points, aid your team instead by killing enemies who try to go for the objective.

Hope it helps!

P.S. I've gone from 1.25 to 1.94, and my K/D has shown no sign of leveling off. Follow my tips, and you can become better too!

Play lot's of living dead...

  • 11.28.2011 6:15 PM PDT

Ignore everyone who said play alot of living dead.

The overall k/d displayed on your bungie.net profile is an average k/d between all your playlists so there won't be much benefit from improving k/d in just infection (which you can only really do if you're a human, not zombie). It would probably only raise your k/d by 0.01 or thereabouts.

My advice to raise your k/d is play all the playlists 1 by 1, probably starting off with slayer and BTB. The more you play the more experience you gain, and with experience you'll become more confident. It's crucial to learn the maps off by heart and be aware of all the shortcuts and escape routes. Make sure to learn the weapon spawn locations and times for every map, controlling power weapons play a big role in Halo. Also try and learn enemy spawn points, these are easy to view in Forge. As you slowly improve you'll find that you're able to deny opponents kills more easily, thus giving you a positive k/d and gradually raising your overall k/d.

It takes time and alot of practice. Believe me I was terrible and only started improving around the rank of General.
