DISCLAIMER AGAIN THIS HAS NOT BEEN EDITED IN ANY WAY

POSTED BY: FAC3L3S5
Time to add my two cents to what began as an excellent way for everyone to improve at sniping, but shortly after turned into a noobfest. :) Really, I mean if someone doesn't stop these guys I am going to kill myself. I was originally going to take care of you -blam!-ots individually but this is just seriously getting out of hand so for your convenience I have decided to turn it into a new thread.

First and foremost. You all are -blam!-ots. lol, but seriously. Your noobness knows no bounds. Some of these posts make me want to beat myself with a hammer. Lets start out with some superb examples of supreme noobness at its finest followed by my initial response:

DISCLAIMER: NONE OF THESE POSTS HAVE BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY

Scince about 3 months ago I have never missed a headshot. How?... You watch your enemy move (if moving) Then slowly follow him with the sniper rifle. When your (crosshairs) get on his head. You fire. This is called the follow through method

Well the first time I read this *recalling initial reaction* I think actually I was so disappointed in this poor neglected misinformed specimen of the halo community that I actually went outside and tied one end of a rope around my neck and the other end of the rope to the back of my riding lawn mower. Then I put it in gear and had one of my clan members/team-mates start the mower. I drug myself for like three city blocks before I eventually passed out from a combination of third degree burns and mild lacerations... Wow, remember kids just follow through with the headshot. Anyway moving right along...

i really must congratulate you on this more than awesome guide...im actually suprized at how many ppl dont know most of this...u left out vehicles, which are pretty easy. just go for the head

Wow. *head in hands* This post really helped me a lot.*extreme sarcasm* Anyway without further ado lets examine yet another prime example of ubernoobness.

Hikaru, your guide to sniping is awesome. I did find though that you left out something I find helpful. When you snipe, you are normally on levels that are big.

Wrong. First you learn to stop-and-snipe on Gizzle then you learn how strafe-snipe on all the other levels. I'll talk more about this in a little bit, but first I would like to find an example of someone just making up stuff.

if your moving and your enemy is moving autoaim takes place. the cross hair sways with the person. If you are sniping and aren't seen, try walking back and forth and then take your shot

That only happens on single and it only works on a lower difficulty such as Easy or Normal and that won't help you get any better.

OK In this scenario Clear Armor is right and silentstalker101 is a -blam!-ot. Now are you starting to relate to my disgust for the ubernoob?

Now that we have that out of the way...um, you all are -blam!-ots. Really. All this useless crap about counter tank/ghost. Wow you guys make me feel leet. Why is this counter tank/ghost talk absolutely useless and blatantly -blam!--blam!-? Well because only hardcore noobs play with ghosts and/or tanks. Seriously I'm not trying to just be degrading and act like I'm so much better than you -blam!-ots.... which... wait I am. HAAHAHHAHAHA Wow, I'm cool, but seriously that crap is useless because first no one who's anyone plays with ghosts/tanks and second no one who is anyone plays Sidewinder and/or Gizzle anymore, and third even if they did there would be no ghosts/tanks. I don't even know why I post on these forums because all I ever see is noobs saying stupid crap that they made up... then Frankie or someone eventually has to come in and clear up a dispute about something that is clearly stated in the manual. *punching himself in the face* OK If you got on XBC and joined a 2 vs 2 game (which is most prevalent on XBC right now) you would never see Sidewinder, Gizzle, Chiron, or Boarding Action. Why? Because no one plays those levels. Most elites prefer smaller faster paced levels. Currently the most popular level on XBC is Chill Out because dude, you really need to... And another thing you -blam!-ots need to get used to taking it rough... no, well that too because its pretty rough out there but I was saying you need to get used to playing Generic TS. For you noobs (which is all of you) Generic TS is (loosely based) around the following gametype settings:

>50/100 kills to win *
>team play: yes
>max health 100%
>shields yes
>no respawn time growth
>no siuicide penalty
>weapon set: normal
>starting equipment: generic
>warthogs only
>other players on radar: no

*Don't tell me thats not possible you f***ing noobs! I know. Its a modified gametype you have to acquire somehow (most commonly via memory card passed around at LANs) Anyway its nice for big games that otherwise go to fast.

Well anyway now that thats out of the way, one thing that I always drive into the ground with sniping is backpack reloading. Especially for you guys that are not as good at... well... suck, and if you don't know what backpack reloading is you should consider suicide, no but really backpack reloading makes such a big difference with guns with small clips ie sniper/rocket especially in close games when you don't have much time to reload to start with let alone after you add 16 people to the mix backpack reloading becomes essential.

I am (in the grand scheme of things) a decent sniper and I almost never attempt to sniper an elite who is returning fire. I think Evil Otto said it best (even though he was referring to campaign the concept still applies) in his Legendary Walkthrough of The Truth and Reconciliation when he said, “You will soon alert an Elite to your presence, making the sniper scope useless as he fires at you.” I would highly recommend switching weapons if someone is aware of your location and is returning fire. Chances are they are hitting you when you are trying to zoom in and you are panicking and even if you could stay zoomed in long enough to get a shot off you would probably miss because they will be strafing back and forth like no other too so if I was you I would just switch and attempt to out-pistol them.

For me the sniper rifle is about shooting the unaware enemy. I usually try to separate myself from the rest of my team when I am sniping. Ideally the other team will engage my team in fire while I snipe them from one side. I prefer to snipe from the side because I think its a lot easier than shotting someone direct on. See when sniping from the side you just aim for the leading edge of your target's head. Much easier. Also believe it or not (all you noobs out there) its a lot easier (as well as safer) to snipe when you are strafing. Like ClearArmor said when you are moving and your enemy is moving auto-aim takes place. When you stop moving completely its all you. This is why I prefer sniping on levels with flat non-organic platforms where I can strafe without my reticle fluctuating up and down in correspondence with the uneven terrain of Blood Gulch for example.

Oh and one last thing, I feel most people over use their 10x zoom. You don't hardly ever need 10x except maybe when your sniping all the way across Blood Gulch and no one plays that level anyway, so I usually find 2x much easier really. I don't even think the sniper rifle should come equipped with a 10x zoom. If anyone noticed they changed it to 8x on the PC version.

IN THE WORDS OF FTDD "TOUSCHE"

The large amount of gibberish you have just read is actually pretty informing and my
post is the same except with a poll so if ya could help out it would be great thnx-

Have you even had a passing relationship with our rules? In order to keep divisiveness to a minimum, we have banned the use of noob and any synonym of noob.
