Here's something that's always puzzled me... just what are the 'two betrayals'? I'm sure one is Guilty Spark's betrayal - I mean, that's obvious. But where's the other one? I've heard a lot've answers for this, and most've them don't make sense. So, I figured I'd come on here and ask around. I figure if I'm going to get a valid answer from anywhere, it'll be on the Bungie Forums, right?

But, I just have one request... if you're going to reply to this, have a decent answer for me... please... I've gotten far too many of these:

OMG U DONT KNOW WT SECOND BTRAYAL IS?!!!!!?! OMG LOL HAHAHAHA ITS WHEN KEY3S BTRAEYD TEH MASTAR CHEIF N0B!!1!11!1 LOL HAHAHA1!!!!1!1 OMG WTF LOL HOW CUD U NOT KNOW TAHT??!??!?!! WTF

Anyway, thanks in advance guys!

The second "betrayal" was that you had to play AoTCR backwards :P

Guilty Spark is the first one, and maybe the second is when the chief was being helped by guilty spark and not cortana. Maybe cortana felt betrayed

Guilty Spark thinks that you betrayed him when you decided to destroy Halo.

You think Guilty Spark betrayed you for nearly destroying the universe.

Simple, no?

Well I dunno as a matter of fact i´ve been wondering myself what the second is.

C’mon guys, it’s not that complex. Look at my last post. If you want something complex, try figuring who The Guardian of the Luminous Key is. That one was hard, I must admit- but simple in the end. ;-)

well we are pretty sure that the first one is when 343 guilty spark betrays master chief, but no one is sure as to the second. we all have our ideas but i guess the only way to be 100% positive is if bungie tells us themselves, which they havent

I asked this question once last year, and the only response I got that made any sense was this: The first betrayal is 343GS not telling you what Halo would actually do once the index was reunited with the core. The other was his turning his sentinals on you when you found out.

Most people lump those together under "343GS's betrayal". I admit, I find this explanation unsatisfactory, as I tend to do the same.

How does MC betray GuiltySpark? Betrayal suggests motive. Guilty Spark betrayed MC by using him as a tool for access to the control of Halo. MC just faught back against the monitor's sentinals because..well.. his life depended on it.

Perhaps it was the fact that both you and Cortana betrayed GS. I don't believe that GS betrayed you because he was simply programmed to find someone to get him the index in the case that the flood were released. He assumed you were aware of the fact that it would wipe out most of the galaxy.

But GS is just as programmed as Cortana

I don't think so; Cortana can think for herself and was one of those 'special' AI's designed by the military. I think GS was just programmed solely to protect the Flood. Granted I have no real proof to back this up, but just some speculation on my part.

GS does have a sole purpose, you're right on that. But the way at which he maintains that goal could be totally up to him.
