What about a community event forum? I know it's close to the classified's...but that doesn't really get used all that often well from what I have seen anyway.

How about we improve upon Bungie.net's PM system?

Allow users to organize Events. They can list the title of the event, dates and times, and possibly a short description. Organizers can send invites to users who can either decline or accept. Users who accept are put into a "roster" for the organizers to use.

My idea is very rough; I'm not in the thinking mood at the moment so I will come back to it tomorrow.

Personally for me I come to this forum to discuss the community and the site itself, not to find people to play games with. Every once in a while as a special treat its kinda fun, but it would get really old really fast if that is all that went on here. It needs its own place, not only to prevent clutter on the forums, but also to make sure things are well organized each time it happens.

Could work

What about adding something like this to the classifieds forum? At least then it would get used more than it does now, and would also have another purpose. It also would probably be less work than adding something totally new to the site.

I agree, if it wasn't, the flood would be just flooded with BF3 invites. =L

Hmm. Yeah, It could be the jump start the classifieds have needed for the past... forever.

Subject: (UPDATE) Ninjas are okay with users running community events, right?

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

DeeJ took some action of the ideas in this thread!

What do you guys think?

I hope at a point this will lead to better options in groups.

When he was younger, he was the one who always had the jokes and riddles that would keep the spirits of the Spartans high. Over the years however, his lifetime of combat had hardened him, as it had all of the Spartans. Within Will, John thought, something special had been lost.

There are some wonderful ideas here. And, I love the idea of people using this website more to actually enhance the time they spend playing games. As has been said, it just needs to happen in the right way. For now, allow me some time to strategize with the Ninjas and the Bungie.net team. We are listening to you.

More to come...

I'm glad to see more active and direct involvement from Bungie. You always hear the older members talking about the good old days. So hearing that lighting a fire under this community is in the works and that it's a priority concern, means that I can't wait.

I don't feel like this community is strong as it is now. It just seems like a bloated afterimage of a better yesterday. Just a bunch of cliques floating around like fragments thinner and thinner after every explosion of new users coinciding around launch times. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it's hard to be involved around here. There's only so much going on, and it seems like the taste I had of what this community is capable of was just ending when I got here. If there were more ways to be involved around here I believe you'd see this community coming back together again. Iris was the highlight of my stay here, but that launch also saw many of the regular members of that time estranged and distancing themselves once it was over and the population peaked. "There goes the neighborhood" seemed to be the general consensus. I don't think you can put things back to the way they were or if we even should, but if there can be a core to this community again that's where I want to be. And with a community this large, I think we've seen the extent of what we as members are capable of affecting around here as a whole. Structure coming from the top down to us seems to be the only way forward, and I'm excited to see action being taken toward that end.

I hope you enjoy your stay here DeeJ. I look forward to our reinvented community.
