Subject: Can Grunts and Jackals survive the rings?

Quit -blam!- stalking me you weirdo.

I noticed that Grunts and Jackals aren't ever infected by the flood, due to them not being worthy bio masses. The Rings only kill bio masses fit. Could this mean that Grunts and Jackals would survive them?

Halo Wars has flood infected jackals and grunts. They will die if the rings were fired. In the trilogy I believe they are turned into carrier forms, just it doesn't show it. Point is they can still be infected and can still die by the array.

All living things with a nervous system are killed. Grunts and jackals are made into Carrier forms.

This (and THIS) was for Reach...and/or Harvest

Obviously there is so much to Halo and the universe than what is represented in game (I know it's stupid).

No, as other have and will state there would be no surviving it, unless you are a cockroach, hmmm.

Coackroach's: masters of the universe!

Why are you here?

Jackals and Grunts aren't infected in games for some reason, but in the universe they are, and will die if the rings are fired.

Bungie didn't have the time to make models for them IIRC.

They were going to have grunts turn into carrier forms though, but that idea was scrapped.

Basically, Grunts and Jackals can and will be infected, but the flood will take humans and elites first for combat forms.

Proof that Jackals were going to be Carrier form fodder. Probably Grunts too.

No: everything will die. Including Flood which has taken over sentient bodies.

Also: Grunts and Jackals are taken over by the Flood. Mostly they are turned into the big Carrier forms you see because they are too small and fragile to be of any use as Combat forms.

Actually, most carrier forms are combat forms that are too badly damaged.

Nothing saying they aren't used as combat forms, just Elites, humans, and brutes get preference.

whilst your qwestun shows logic no, i dont think so, t'rings are designed to kill all sentient life in the galaxy which can be used as food for t'Flood, Halo Wars shows Grunts and Jackals can be infected, so t'rings can kill em

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The only reason Grunts and Jackals aren't infected in the games was because they didn't make the character models for it. They can be infected by the Flood like the other species'.

Any living organisms in the galazy are whiped. The rings were developed so that it would kill any possible life forms that The Flood may feed on. This includes Grunts and Jackals, yes.

anything sentient is vulnerable to halo. I believe grunts and jackals are the flood carrier forms (their legs resemble that of the grunts' in my eyes), but what do I know.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Not sure Grunts and Jackals can be infected. Jackal bodies are far too fragile to support the infection and Grunt's don't have enough mass. However they can still be used to make a Gravemind.

Which doesn't really count for the established backstory.

I am a whisper on the wind...

Grunts and jackals are either turned into carrier forms or are used to gain sufficient mass for a Gravemind to form.

  • 11.30.2011 3:03 PM PDT

The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

In Halo: Legends the forerunner supposedly took samples of all species and then repopulated all the worlds. I would assume that just because they didn't appear in games, it doesn't mean they could not be infected like every other sentient life however.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Lekgolo aren't affected by the rings as far as I'm aware as they don't posses a single nervous system but rather, combine to make colonies that share all the knowledge and the likes of said worms, kind of like the Flood do when making a Proto-Gravemind and a Gravemind.

I'd wager larger forms of them (if they were indexed) would get smashed by the halo firing. Otherwise probably no effect.

Hinted at not being true. All organic life capable of flood infection yes, but that means there is organic life that the flood can't infect :).
