All organic life perishes

Lekgolo, drones and Engineers beg to differ.

Where is it implied that drones can survive halo's neural pulse?
I'd understand why lekgolo worms and huragok could.

They can't get infected.

Technically, this is an invalid argument.

What is the point of infecting something that is smaller than the flood spore itself?

Drones...well it was never explictly stated whether they could be infected.

And I think you can blow up a huragok with a needle rifle. They are "alive", in a sense.

There is no argument and nothing is invalid.

Drones can't get infected due to their physiology Which is the same for the legkolo.

They don't have spines, central nervous systems, etc.

The legkolo could be infected just like everything else. Halo 3? They started out as giant, lumbering, bullet eating, forms that turned into some kind of spider and shot at you. My point being if they can be infected and the rings destroy all of the Floods food sources, so yes, they have to be wiped out just like everything else, by default.

They can not be infected and i have explained what atleast 30 times over the years and several times in this thread.

And you idiot that was a flood pure form not a Hunter.

On Charum Hakkor, everything more complex than fungus was eradicated by Halo's pulse. I think they would be killed. If not directly by the Halo effect then after it when their entire food supply collapses when every other living thing dies.

we already know that the lekgolo were around with the forerunners and ignored by them. They only eat dirt, certain minerals and forerunner ruins; so they would be fine.

Seeing how we know nothing about the drones we can't say anything about the after effects on their ecosystem. For all we know there are other insects like them that they eat that wouldn't be effected.

Wouldn't anything that has cells and biomass be able to be turned into FSC? Maybe not the hole Drone but parts of it?

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

Grunts and Jackals can be infected.

Spores only if anything.

Infection forms require a spine to infect.

Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

No. It kills everything. The ring doesn't have the same reservations that the flood has.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Grunts and Jackals arent infected and turned into combat forms simply because of their lack of calcium. They are used as added biomass for the Flood and Gravemind though.

The Flood in Halo Wars is perhaps a different itiration of the Flood, one that has evolved in the past 100.000 years to better equip itself to use beings with less calcium in combat roles. Just a theory, though.

But anyways, Grunts and Jackals are killed by the Halo effect. They have neural pathways which the detonation targets and eliminates.

All living things with a nervous system are killed. Grunts and jackals are made into Carrier forms.
Actually, according to the Library in Anniversary, Carriers are just Combat Forms that serve no further purpose and therefore are turned into carriers.

That was established in halo 2.

Jackals and Grunts aren't infected in games for some reason, but in the universe they are, and will die if the rings are fired.

Bungie didn't have the time to make models for them IIRC.

They were going to have grunts turn into carrier forms though, but that idea was scrapped.

Basically, Grunts and Jackals can and will be infected, but the flood will take humans and elites first for combat forms.

Proof that Jackals were going to be Carrier form fodder. Probably Grunts too.

What proof? All your link shows is a Carrier form with a Jackal gauntlet, even in the info it says it is just the gauntlet and not the jackal.

Which of course, I didn't know, because I wasn't a huge Halo fan during the era of Halo 2 because I was only 9 I believe.

I'll answer correctly, from halo CE: (Master chief puts the activation index into the pannel) oracle: Odd, that wasn't supposed to happen. Cortana: Oh really? Master chief: Cortana? Cortana: I've spent the last 12 hours cooped up in here to help you get THAT thing ready to slit our throats. Master chief: Hold on now, he's a friend. Cortana: (sarcastic) Oh, I didn't realize, he's your pall eh? Your chum, Do you have any idea of what that B*****D almost made you do? Master chief: Yes, activating the halo ring to kill the flood. Cortana: You don't have any idea how this ring works, why the forerunners built it, Halo doesn't kill flood, it kills their food. And that's exactly what halo is designed to do, wipe the galaxy clean of ALL sentient life.
