Subject: Yet another question about the flood...would appreciate an answer

I rule the midnight air, the destroyer, die by my hand, I am Creeping Death.

Okay, so the halo rings were designed to at least kill the flood's food source and starve them to death (we are not 100% sure on destroying the flood themselves), however, why didn't this work? How did the flood manage to survive? Why was the universe repopulated when the flood was still a threat?

First, let me ask you a question. Have you played ANY of the Halo games?

  • 11.29.2011 7:26 PM PDT

The flood was kept alive in research facilities so they could be studied to try to find a cure for it like what Ancient Humanity did. The Universe was repopulated because the forerunners never thought a race would be stupid enough to release it so they considered it safe.

Why would they need to find a cure for a threat that would never arise again?

The flood came from outside the milky way. There's no way they would be able to kill all of them so they kept trying to find a cure in case the flood comes back from outside the galaxy. If they did ever come back from outside the galaxy there would be a cure and they wouldn't have to kill just about everything in the galaxy.

Thank you for your answer. Did the Forerunners know that the ancient humans knew a cure for the flood before they de-evolutioned them?

I do not think so.

Break down, every single one of you.

The Halos were a last resort. They tried looking for a different way to beat them before firing the rings.

On another not, the threat did rise again. It would have been good to know a cure if the Flood ever came back, which they did.

If they de-evolutioned them, then they removed all their technology etc., how did they figure out they had a cure? Why didn't they take the cure before they de-evolutioned them?

So that means they were wiped out eventually, and came back from outside the galaxy again, which I do not remember at all hearing.

Not really important, just curious about this.

They did not know they had a cure. They didn't even know the Flood existed when they were de-evolved. The Forerunners thought the Flood was Humanities's excuse for taking Forerunner worlds. They de-evolved them, the Flood came back, but the Humans refused to give the Forerunners the cure.

"The humans refused to give the Forerunners the cure." I thought you said they didn't know they had a cure? And even if they did somehow how would the humans themselves know enough to reject it if they were de-evolutioned?

They didn't know they had it until they were de-evolved. As for knowing the cure, that's really difficult to explain. I would suggest reading Cryptum.

What's all this talk about the humans being De-evolutionized? The forerunners went to earth and each alien planet and picked up some of each race to be placed in slipspace storage pods which were placed inside of triangle shaped Key ships like the one used to unlock the portal in Halo 3 before they fired the rings so that after the rings were fired they could be released back onto their planets to repopulate. Nobody was "de-evolutionized" because all the species were still in caveman stage when they were put in storage and when they were released they were exactly the same as they were before. I would suggest playing all the main Halo games (ODST, Halo Wars, and Reach are optional) and then watching Halo Legends which can be found on Netflix as an instant watch or you can try Hulu on your pc for free.

So what I said is wrong too? This "Cryptum" must follow the events differently then.

  • 11.30.2011 7:11 AM PDT

The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

The forerunners tried to find a cure to the flood as aforementioned, and as also previously stated, they didn't think anybody would be stupid enough to release them. As the flood were from outside of the galaxy, so they could return at any given time from wherever it is they originated.

How can it be different when nothing was ever established and everything was conjecture. fairytales.

I guess they didn't realize that there is no cure untill it was too late. The only real cure is to just destroy the flood entirely.
