So as we all know, Bungie has a new project they will be announcing (hopefully in the next calendar year). This new project will have nothing to do with Halo.

For now, since Bungie's label is still on the box of Halo Reach, they keep the game forums around for support and such since many people go there asking questions.

I can only ask, when will it be time to cut the cord?

When will Halo be non existant on this site and a thing of the past like Marathon is? When will the Halo game forums (Halo 1,2,3,ODST,Reach) be removed? What about the user avatars and stats pages? Will those also be removed as well?

I might be asking too much from the guys with the Gold text and to reveal information to the public on this. But will this happen within the next year?

Thanks for any input and clues :)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Well with the loss of the nameplate thread and the fact Bungie.net is losing Bungie Pro and probably stats soon, I would say the cord will be cut very soon.

I do think eventually the Halo forums will be deleted and all Halo campaign discussion will go in the universe forum.

Oh and Marathon, Oni, Myth, Pathways to darkness, etc are in NO WAY non-existent, many of us still play them, hold community gatherings on them, and discuss them in the universe forum.

My guess is that sometime after E3 2012 or around the time Halo 4 comes out, Bungie will "cut the cord".

I understand that. But right now Bungie's mainstream game is still known as "Halo Reach". Even though it's run by 343 Industries. Eventually there will be a time where the only place to talk about Halo is in the Universe forum, like Marathon is right now.

When I say "non existent" I mean where Halo isn't a mainstream game anymore.

I'm awesome...No seriously I am.

I Really would hate to be around when they cut the cord, but as things are going, it looks like it is going to be soon.

To imagine Bungie.net to be vacant of Halo content, other than the discussion that will go on in the Universe forum, leaves an emptiness in my heart. "Going dark" is harder to get used to than I thought it would be.

E3 2012 is my best guess when the cord is cut, around the time they reveal more about their future universe.

I have no problem with Halo stuff going in the universe. The problem we are having now is people don't know what to do. I think it is simpler at 343i's forum. But I wouldn't mind a Forum that is about every Halo all in 1.
