Reach is the worst Halo game, by far.

Reach dropped to number 3 days after release, and has been dropping since. Halo 3 stood strong as number 1 for 2 years after release, and still stood strong as number 2 after MW2 took its place until lolReach came along.

Reach has retarded gameplay that was so bad it needed its core engine changed via a title update just to try to get people to come back.

In all fields, Halo 3 surpassed Halo: Reach.

Now because of Reach, CoD owns the Xbox 360. Hell, a game that's an entire year older than it, MW3, is passing it.

Not only that, but 343i has hinted sooo many times that Reach was, basically, a bad Halo game.

Just say it. It doesn't matter if you like it or not. That's just your opinion. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion. Just don't be in denial of facts.

ATTENTION MODERATORS. My latest ban (14-day ban from Qbix89) is not legitimate, take a look for yourself. Please review this before considering me a "repeat offender". Thank you.

I already have.

H2 and H3 both received title updates as well.

In terms of functionality, Reach was playing as intended the majority of the time, unlike its predecessors.

Everybody wants some.

Bungie tried something different, but in my eyes, it didn't work. Halo is a fairly simple game, and Reach has too many gimmicks.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I just attribute its lack of success to other, more realistic reasons than most on this forum. For one, I'm not under the impression that things such as bloom and armor lock chased away the masses.

I simply argue that other titles became more popular and took the "must play" stigma away from Halo.

I think Reach is not a failure.

It is not a great Halo game, it's gameplay differs from the original trilogy greatly and that is a disappointment to most.

But it was an experimental game and for what it is I like it. It's definitely not the best Halo, Arguably might be the worst, but as a game itself, it's perfectly fine.

Hi.

The better Bungie got at replicating their ideas into game format, the worse the games got.

Hence, this may sound odd, but - the suckier Bungie is at making games, the better their games are. Which is why Bungie will never make a good game again - they're now good at making games.

You mean they're good at ruining them.

How is it unrealistic that a game lost its luster from totally deviating from what the series was before it, and actually leaning toward to more generic, overdone side of gaming?

Because if it leaned more towards that casual end then more people would be playing it. But that is not the case. No casual gamer looked at the screen, saw bloom, and turned off their Xbox.

Your distaste for Reach is perfectly fine but your explanations for its failure are ultimately irrational.

If Reach came out when Halo 3 did and Halo 3 came out when Reach did the same thing would have ended up happening. Perhaps to a slightly lesser extent because of the titles of the games, but people have moved on from Halo.

Bloom and Armor Lock may not have been the ONLY things that drove players away, but they were indisputably part of it.

Updated Halo 2 V.S. Modern Warfare 3
We would at least be in second place for population.

Bloom and armor lock chased away MAYBE 5% of the players who no longer play Halo. You guys seem to so easily forget just how small the competitive/hardcore community is.

Implying the hardcore/competitive community is the only part of the overall community that dislikes sluggish gameplay and annoying things in general?

What happened, Viper? You totally moved across the spectrum of where you stand on Halo..

You're implying that only the players in the competitive/hardcore community are the only ones who hate bloom and armor lock. Everyone I know who has ever played Reach, most aren't even Halo players, call bloom and armor lock retarded.

There is no denying it. Reach is simply bad. It was a combination of both the rise of popularity of COD and Reach sucking that killed this game.

I've always stood in the same place with Halo and the same place with Reach: Halo is (in my opinion) the best game there is. Reach is simply absolute trash when it comes to competitive gameplay - bloom or no bloom.

Again, you are ignoring the other side of the street your argument is on because it is very much a two-way street. You are saying that the same things that make Reach boring, dull, and flat out stupid are the things that make games like CoD sell millions on day one.

People like casual-ness and people like instant gratification. Reach did try to go more casual than previous Halo games and no matter what Halo will ALWAYS get "out-casualed" by CoD.

Do I like the fact that Bungie tried to dumb their game down? Hell no. Do I attribute it to the lack of players? Absolutely not. This is basic marketing... Halo cannot be better at being Call of Duty than Call of Duty can.

I myself have never seen a casual complain about armor lock, bloom or anything else.

GF caught me raging one time and asked why. I explained Armor Lock to her and she said (and I quote), "Wow that's stupid".

Someone who doesn't even play Halo realizes its faults, so why can't the players who do see it?

yeah this reminds me of the time i got sent to jail for stealing crocs from target becozs i wanted all of the colors because i only got the green wons for my birthday and i wanted more ;)

Yes, I will agree that from a population/competitive stand point, Reach is a failure.
(Anything after this is an opinion.)
Although, that is the only place it has failed. It lived up to what it is meant to be. A game, 'an amusement or pastime', in that aspect, it was a complete success.

She also got her first taste of armor lock from someone who absolutely despises it. No offense to you and I'm sure as hell not defending that trash, but it's a biased introduction.
