Anyone who claims the AR takes skill ought to shoot himself in the head. Preferably with the AR because they'll most likely miss with any other weapon.

Took you 23 whole days to realize this.

which is exactly why I think that, after Halo 4's release, Halo 3 will surpass Reach.

H3 will pass Reach at that time simply because it's a prequel to H4.

Unless they fix the netcode (which, from what I have seen, is the reason people who hate Reach, and prefer 3, even play Reach instead.) I don't see it happening.
When Halo 4 comes out, it will blow both populations away. The game, Halo 3 or Reach, with the larger dedicated and hardcore fans will, albeit be very low on the charts, be above the game with the smaller amount.

This begs the question: do you honestly think Reach has more hardcore, dedicated fans than Halo 3 does?

Those are nice stories. I don't believe you. I think it's odd that you happen to have so many friends who don't play Halo, yet have opinions about the game that agree with yours.

I can understand how Armor Lock can be annoying, but how does Bloom decrease the skill level required to play the game? If anything, Bloom would increase the amount of skill you need to kill someone.

Your last paragraph is really stupid. Just stop complaining about things that nobody cares about and enjoy the game.

Bro, I went back and played it a couple months ago,

one of the best decisions I've ever made.
As lame as this might sound, it was like an action movie.

That's a tough call. Halo 3 may have hardcore fans still playing it and Reach definately has dedicated fans still playing it even in the morning hours.

Fans of Halo, yes. People see "Halo" on everything from sweatshirts, board games, books, RC cars, to childrens toys. They gobble that -blam!- up.

On different occasions, I asked both you and South why you play Reach over 3, despite preferring 3, and adamantly opposing Reach. You both gave me the same answer. Netcode.

Now if I may counter your question with another. If Halo 3 fans have the level of dedication that you think they do, wouldn't they overlook the crappy netcode and play it instead?

  • 11.30.2011 6:58 PM PDT

Halo Reach is not a failure . You probly just suck at the game, or maybe you just looked up what the critics had to say about it. You cant listen to everything you hear. Reach had better armor, better graphics, better gameplay, and bigger maps. Anyways, everything that you said is all opinion, not FACT.

P.s. Cod does not own the xbox anymore, Cod had its time, but if it doesn't start to change, no one will play it anymore. Currently: Battlefield owns xbox

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Because I can still have fun playing it.

Plus, CoD isn't #1 because Reach sucks. It's #1 because all regular gamers like explosions, realism, and easier gameplay.

And lol @ all the hyping about Halo 4. You're just going to be disappointed again, and complain.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Woah, we got a badass here.

Funfact: people can like different thngs and share opinions. I have another freind who went through two CoD 4 disks (as a casual gamer, he just liked screwing around a ton in that game, yet still held a KDR of something in the 1.2s), always said Halo was a terrible game, never touched it until sometime in 2009, when he came over and I forced him to play Halo 3.

He never went above a .66 KDR after something like 20 games, and asked why he couldn't do good in the game. I simply told him, the game was stripped of many gimmicks. You have to rely on your own awareness and skill with the gun you're using. He went home and bought the game that day, and started getting into it moreso. He contacted me over XBL and said he never had as much fun in a game before, it was genuinely holding his interest for hours on end. He never got that good at it, but he enjoyed it.

When MW2 came out, he forgot about Halo and moved onto that. When I told him Reach was coming out in September 2010, and when he went to go buy it, he played the game for a few hours, said how much he thought the game was nowhere near as fun as Halo 3, because of bloom and AL. He then tried to get into it by playing for a couple days, but couldn't, and shelved the game, almost never playing it anymore. When he does, he gets so worked up because of AL and bloom that he can only stand to play two or three games. He went back to playing MW2 until Blops came out, and just went on like he did with CoD 4, before I introduced him to Halo 3.

Another example,

One friend who was really into COD. He said that COD took more skill than Reach. I didn't argue, just asked him why. He said Armor Lock and Bloom. He wasn't a very big Halo guy, so the other flaws like OP grenades and no bleed through didn't make themselves apparent to him.

I then asked what he thought of Halo 3. He said that it takes a lot more skill than Reach and COD.

Everyone with an IQ above table thinks (knows) this game sucks. The whole "Halo just isn't as popular" explanation doesn't make up for the fact that we're not even in the top five population wise anymore.

Those are nice stories. I don't believe you. I think it's odd that you happen to have so many friends who don't play Halo, yet have opinions about the game that agree with yours.

Better armor=opinion
Better graphics =/= better game. look at minecraft
Bigger maps =/= better game
Better gameplay = opinion.

Do you have any actual......proof that reach is better than h3?

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Call of Duty is crushing everything else on the console. I don't know where all the Battlefield fanboys came from or which piece of woodwork they crawled out from under but they're all over the internet now.

Look at the numbers... CoD is crushing everyone.

Initially I thought it was junk but when Reach's Campaign rolled around H3's seemed like breakfast in bed on a silver platter. Tip of the Spear didn't come close to The Ark or The Covenant.

I sold my Campaign disc and I've regretted it since. Thankfully it's only 10 bucks at Gamestop.

Okay, so, time to compile a list. Going off of what the forums have said.

Reasons people don't play Reach :
Bloom.
AAs.
Poor spawns.
Forge grey.
Horrible community maps.
Little to no skill gap.
Maps taken from the campaign.
BR > DMR
Poor campaign.
Lack of 1-50 ranking.
All matchmaking is social.

Reasons people don't play Halo 3 :
Laggy netcode.
Mexicans.

Again, it's kind of clear that a dedicated Halo 3 fan, would be playing Halo 3. In fact, I'll even say anyone still playing 3 with Reach out is the real dedicated Halo 3 fan.

Connection is like the biggest part of the game. Nothing else matters if you're teleporting across the map. I'd love to go back to H3 indefinitely, but the netcode is so awful because of all the foreign host. Every game for me is unplayable.

They both suck. One just sucks worse. Reach isn't terrible when you compare it to other games from this year or even last.

It just sucks compared to Halo 3. Which is run by Mexicants and de-rankers. Other than that the game was meh to me.

  • 11.30.2011 7:27 PM PDT

lolnope.

In terms of sales, Bungie and Microsoft succeeded no doubt. But as in terms of the game having a very high replay value and lots of enjoyment to it, meh. I play it because I get bored. Not because I like it a lot.

And that's a very valid reason. I'm not discrediting it, of course. But the netcode has always been the same. If host keeps getting handed to foreigners, I'd say it's a sign that most of the Halo community, like myself, got roped into the hype behind Reach. Since I suck at whichever Halo game I play, the experience is really all the same to me.

However, when I started to dislike Reach, I stopped playing it so much.

I suppose that's what I don't get though. My brother hates playing Reach, only steps foot in matchmaking to play Grifball, since he is a huge RvB fan. He's literally twisted two controllers so hard in fits of rage that he broke them in half.
But he keeps playing anyway. To me it's either a case of masochism, or outright stupidity to play a game you hate.

  • 11.30.2011 7:33 PM PDT

Reach went into a whole different direction and the majority of the Halo fan base didn't quite like that so they left, plain and simple.
