Lack of Player investment.
1) Rank - Rank means nothing in reach, theres no status assosiated with it. In halo 3 once you got to 50, everyone knew you were good (even though at least half of them were bought) Getting to level 50 was an achivement. And once you got your 50, you could get like 8 more in seperate playlists. In Reach, Reaching a new rank doesn't bring me any satisfaction. And once I Reach Inheritor, the problem will get even worse.
2) Armory - The Armory was cool for me until I reached Fieldmarshall. Now theres nothing left to unlock. I like it, and it works as a short term motivation to rank up, but once your past general, Its pointless, and it Fails as long term player investment.
3) Commendations & Challenges - Commendations are cool, I guess, But Its not even a player Investment strategy, It just shows your trends in MM and FF. Its like a 'why not' thing, but i would have preferred bungie to spend more time on a reach investment strategy. Challenges are cool as well, they make the super long journy's from rank to rank more of a 1 step at a time thing, and makes you focus on the daily challenge, rather than the 2 months it takes depending on how much you play to get to noble to eclipse.
The One Thing Bungie did to Keep me in Halo.
Arena - The Best Competitive Halo experience I've had. A cometitive Ranking system, only a select number of people can hold a division percentage at one time. If It werent for Arena, I would have quit halo half a year ago. Despite the obvious playlist flaws, such as maps like: Reflection and boardwalk, The RAnking system is amazing. I hope we see one like it in Halo 4.
What should be Done.
Bring back 1-50 and put it in All playlists save Arena and FF. Come up with a Way to award the player for achiveing 50, then award the player for achieving multiple 50's.
Post your ideas of why halo's population is suffering, and what can and should be done to fix it.Because Call of Duty exists.
It's a pick-up and play game.
It's casual, that's why it's above.
