man you know me

I know it's probably not true, but it really feels like it sometimes. Reach tends to be a darker, muddier looking game, and when I played Halo 3 after playing Reach everything felt so much brighter and clearer.

That and that awful blurring thing that happens in Reach for some reason. You must have seen it too.

When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

Reach has better graphics, and a darker color palette. It's a dark gloomy game. It sets the tone of the story.

Halo in my eyes always looked vibrant, almost cartoony in the ways of how saturated the colours were (as was apparent in Halo 3), and as such fails in my opinion when it comes to it trying to look "dark/gloomy/next gen", Call of Duty "grunge" does not suit Halo at all.

lol ... so the way the second falcon in the start of winter gets blurred into nothing more than a flying bush is to "set the tone of the story".

I suspect the aging bungie staffers just couldnt tell the difference due to the onset of glaucoma.

I never said the motion blurring had anything to do with setting the tone. Just the darker colors. As far as the blurring? Meh... didn't really bother me.

Maybe that's just me. I always catch it out of the corner of my eye. I find it annoying.

even the trolls are reaching for disscusion content.

Happiness is a warm gun

The graphics engine is CLEARLY more diverse and intricate then Halo 3s, if you are trying to argue otherwise then you are ignorant.

I would agree that I enjoyed the STYLE of Halo 3 more, but graphics are a measurable reality, and to that end, Reach is better.

But yes, I miss H3s overall shinyness and bright colors

Reach = Better then HALO 3

Hi.

Reach has a higher technological advancement in graphics (obviously - it exceeds Halo 3 by 4 years), but its art style, what makes it so muddy, gritty, colorless, and lifeless, is definitely poop-ugly.

But I think that was the point. (no, not to make it "poop-ugly") but to create a gloomy tone to tell a poetic but depressing story. It's akin to a Greek tragedy.

You can make the art style gritty without making it poop-ugly, however.

See the Halo 4 trailer art style? Definitely gritty, but definitely not poop-ugly. Also, look at some of the Halo Wars cutscenes.

I'm not arguing that that the Halo 4 art style is better than the Reach art style by any means - that'd be stupid because I haven't seen Halo 4 gameplay. The only thing I'm asserting here is that you can have gritty visuals that aren't boring, dull, and lifeless. The Halo 4 trailer has gritty visuals, so it's a prime example.

Your presence here is quite unneeded. Begone you!!!

different themes require different lighting to the game

DERP DERP

The only thing that i think that looked worse in reach was the way thay made the elites looked.

Anniversary had a great feel to it. Felt like an old arcade shooter, in a good way. But I agree, the moody grunge stuff doesn't fit Halo.

Like the fellow said above. Halo 3 ODST had a dark setting and feel to it, but it kept it's vibrant Halo-esque colours and general Haloish graphics that worked out wonderfully.

One does not simply trolololol into Mordor.

If Halo 3's needler looked like lolreach's, well lets just say lolreach would have nothing over 3.
