When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

With H:CEA done, and H4 in development, I don't think they'll be dedicating any resources to making this happen.

Stopped watching after 2 seconds. Sorry, if you even bother to make a YouTube video, at least do it at good quality.

Also, lolrank

I really don't hope 343, puts any more effort into this pathetic game.

Because putting ranks in a game nobody cares about anymore would make a difference. It wouldn't make more people stay by any means. All it would do is create a system where people try to find ways to cheat their way to the top at this point.

So because some people cheat it completely invalidates all the legitimate players?

Seems legit.

i have learned its better to be nice, than not to be.

Sounds like justintv is salty he doesnt get to play enough. 1-50 system was seriously flawed with boosting and deranking. Good luck finding a woman living in your parents basement/workout room. Under 18 and shouldnt be playing this game anyway. You cant buy beer or get into a strip club, you shouldnt be able to buy this game.

Did you ignore the rest of my post? There's hardly anybody left playing this game. Everybody is on CoD. Putting ranks in right now when the only lists people play are unranked slayer (which boasts about 3,000 people at any given point) and Zombies would just slow down search times.

Ranks also lead to cheaters so instead of tearing Reach's population up and putting in ranks/leaderboards which would just be cheated, wait until Halo 4.

  • 12.01.2011 9:54 AM PDT

If you put in a ranking system people will flock back to Reach.

  • 12.01.2011 10:04 AM PDT

I honestly don't see the harm that could be done by it. The damage is already done to Reach population-wise. The people still playing Reach are people that would keep playing no matter what, and who knows? 1-50 could draw a lot of people back into the game, especially if the playlists where the 1-50 ranks were featured had competitive (read: not loldefault) settings and maps.

1. Way to know his life, you are incredibly correct about everything you just listed.

2. The arena ranking is what is flawed. Sure there were boosters and derankers in a 1-50 ranking system but compared to the overall population it worked amazingly well. In halo 2 and 3 I ALWAYS was matched up against similar players and had close matches. In reach I will get games where I go + 20 and everyone else on my teams goes -15 or more. Those matches are not fun. Nobody has fun playing matches where one team has 50 kills and the other has 3. The arena system also promotes stating. The objective playlist is pretty much obsolete because all anybody does is run around getting kills. There is no incentive to grab flags, get hill time, or whatever. There is no incentive to win and Reach needs that.

3. Reach still has a year left. Are we just going to let this community continue to die? This community is already plagued by trolls, but there are still a lot of people that love Halo and want to see it thrive. Reach isn't the best game, but why should we not try to improve it? This community really needs to stop -blam!-ing and trolling each other. What we need to do is tell 343 what we want. What would make Reach a better game than it is now, what would make Halo 4 the best Halo to date? We need to step it up and let them hear our productive input, not whiney complaints about everything.

This game has been out over a year and he is still a colonel, come on, man.
Bungie had it right having a three tier system, it promotes that you play all facets of the game, campaign, firefight and matchmaking.

People are enraptured with only being good at MM, the game was never about just that. 343i is not going to bring back the 1-50, so you all need to accept that.

Crying about it isnt going to have them change it now or in halo4. Even if they put in a competitive/pro playlist you still are going to have unskilled players going into it. Because they think they are pro.

Unless you are getting payed to play halo, then you shouldnt care about whether or not youre good at it.

Care about your school work and/or youre job, social life, family or the important things in life, not a symbol or a number by your name in a video game.

It's so embarrassing that it has to come down to this desperate pleading. Nobody should have to say this it should just be a given.

Halo 4 comes out in a year. They can't just give up on Reach and watch it die. If they make people want to play Reach again then those players will be extremely excited for Halo 4 because playing Reach has made them energized for the next Halo.

Now if you keep Reach as it is and more people leave it, in a year people would have lost interest in Halo all together and Halo 4 would not be as big as a hit as it is intended to be. I personally would probably lose faith in it. A lot of things could happen to Reach in a year and hopefully it is for the better.

You're the one that's making absurd claims that if you care about your Halo rank that you have to neglect your other social/life obligations, and I'M the troll?

Right.

They tried to bring players back. Problem is, it IS too late, no one cares any more. People wanted no bloom, they get it on Tuesday, I doubt the population will spike, because it`s in a playlist that hardly anyone plays anyway, and is mostly going to be played by people already playing.

People wanted `classic` settings and a 3 shot pistol, for Reach. Did that help boost the population when they gave it to us in the Anniversary playlists? Nope. Because in order to play these settings, you had to by a game or download a map pack. These were changes people were begging for, but if they want to play, they gotta pay. 343 has said they are not applying the TU game wide. And chances are, if you own CEA, you own Reach, so you are leaving the some population footprint no matter which game you play.

On the casual side, people wanted ways to make more credits. Did the population jump up and stay up when 343 introduced custom challenges, and brought back the super jackpots? Nope. Hell, people were looking for way to abuse the custom challenges so they could play the game less.

Most of the people I've seen on the forums asking for the return of 1-50 play the game anyway without it. So I doubt that would 'save' the game either.

Point is. 343 -is- trying to bolster the population. But it just isn't working. They are far better off taking the next year and making sure Halo 4 is everything Reach isn't, then trying to foist a game people just don't want to play on them.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
