Honestly, this is a good cover up for all the idiots who won't know its a cover up .

On CEA's Pillar of Autumn, once you reach the top floor of Cryo ("Looks like the COvenant were hoping to catch you napping..."), if you look at the LED screens it shows one blue, one red. On the blue, it's Chief's vitals. On the red, it's Linda's, with all vitals at 0 or N/A.

This is also shown, for whatever reason, on The Maw as well, despite the fact that Linda was ejected before the POA crash-landed, although it could be argued that the screen was a memory dump.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Explain to me when she was "never canon" or even considered not to be?

Gamewise canon, as she didn't appear in Reach.

What the hell? This is stupid.

Fail to see point of this topic as Linda was never in danger of being considered non-canon.

Not appearing in a game does not equal not canon. If that was the case Halsey wouldn't have been canon until Reach came out last year.

I am...whimsical today.

If not 'now canon', then at least it's something that's been officially recognised ingame (like Halsey, as mentioned).
To be fair, very little from the books is tied in directly to the games (that comes to mind at least, though I did forget about Halsey so perhaps my memory is not what it could be). I think it's perfectly reasonable to point these out when they happen :)

Wording makes all the difference. "She is now canon." implies before she wasn't, or was not confirmed to be canon (all false).

Where as if he said "Linda's mentioned in Halo CEA." which is basically what he meant.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

So by that logic, Halsey wasn't canon until Reach, too? Wat.

I guess these are CEA in-game references to Linda from the books (having not got CEA yet, I wouldn't know what the eggs are exactly)

But yes, Linda was never non-canon, this is just her first ever reference in in-game, even if its an easter egg.

This was in the game 10 years ago it isn't new. The only difference is the tag "Linda" on the cryo.

I agree with this.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Uhhh...she was always considered canon.

Lay off the insults guys, he was making a reasonably well written post trying to contribute something, not trolling. There's no need to jump on him like a pack of rabid Jackals.

If people have not already seen it it's drawing attention to quite a neat little reference to the Fall of Reach, so his post *is* useful.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Again, it's all in the wording. He makes it sound like before now, Linda was either not canon at all, or suspected of not being canon.

Both are utterly false.
