I dont think Spartan-IVs are needed yet. I'd like more focus on the IIs and even then the IIIs before the IVs. Just seems mad and pointless to already have Spartan IVs.

  • 12.02.2011 4:57 PM PDT

I highly doubt anything will measure up to Spartan IIs, and ONI is just trying to chase their previous success with the Spartan II program to figure out a way to produce more soldiers, but with less deaths during augmentation procedures. I have I feeling that we will see Spartan IV's in Halo 5 or 6, but I doubt that they will implement them so soon into the Halo universe and Halo 4.

Re-reading Ghosts of Onyx, I can't believe we didn't see the SIVs coming.

Anyway. To the reason why I quoted this post. In GoO they talk of one day having the tech to give the same augmentations that the SIIIs received to the general population. If that is true for SIVs, then they should be just as successful as SIIIs, if not the SIIs (depending whether they receive MJOLNIR MK VII or not).

And we know that there were SIVs at the end of Halo 3 - as shown by Glasslands. My 'dates' might be slightly off, but whatever. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

More spartans in the game would take away from chief,so no.

No they wouldn't.

There needs to be more characters other than just Cortana and Chief. Their banter isn't going to last three whole games.

Can you not comprehend?

More Spartans would take the game away from chief. Did i say more characters in the game? No, i said spartans.

Reach is a perfect example of that. You have a group of spartans that are given an extremely vague backstory, nearly nobody knows they are Spartan IIIs, and all people talk about is how N6 would somehow beat chief.

If you were to put another spartan in halo 4 there would have to be an entire concrete and well explained backstory and reasoning for him/her. You can't just throw a random spartan in the mix and hope it has a good impact on the story.

If I may point out, isn't it an odd jump to go from "One day we may have the tech to give this to just about anybody." to "three months after halo 3 ends. Oh, we've HAD Spartan IV's on the Infinity."

I never said it would be good for the story, just that it was totally possible for them to be in the game. I feel that if they added more spartans to the game it would make it feel like the "Charlie Foxtrot" that was Halo Reach drama between Noble Team.

We have been told several times that the story arc is about chief and cortana. Having SVIs in the mix is going to be hell story wise. Nobody is going to know who or what they are since most people hate reading, thus it will pretty much be a reach.

So you are saying there cannot be anything else but a story about Master Chief and Cortana? No. There can be a side plot. It could be all about the IV program but from the MC and C's point of view.

But I doubt it.

We have had 2 games and an expansion without CnC so that was a foolish rhetorical question. That wouldn't even work nor would it make sense; Chief isn't aware of the SIII project (which cortana has slight knowledge of) so a SIV project would blow his mind. Which is where the explaining would have to come in.

If There is going to be some Halo 4 expansion that elaborates then fine. You just can't ignore the massive explaining that is going to have to be done which we probably aren't even going to get in the books.

Where and why do you even think SIV's would be in halo 4? Them being stationed out there doesn't mean a think since the SIIs were station in various places before augmentations and for various reasons. Not everything in Glasslands is going to be in halo 4,which is funny you people know get on that conclusion since a year ago "Book canon had/has nothing to do with the books".
The main things that are going to be in next trilogy from Glasslands is probably installation 3,infinity, and possably halsey. So far i haven't seen anything else that would fit in or be relevant.

This.

Also: No I don't think it will happen. It took Bungie 3 games to finally introduce the mainstream fan to the concept of S3's...why would we suddenly get a new game with S4's if 343i could also add more impact by bringing back Blue Team members later on in the trilogy?

Besides that: The addition of S4's to the series was just retarded. Halo shouldn't rely solely on a constant stream of Spartans to keep canon going. And that's not even taking in account that it's a program like the original ORION project. In other words: it relies on volunteering soldiers. Which means they are not drilled from 6 years old like the S2's. Yes: S2's are more scarce, but I really doubt another wave of Spartans can either be that good and that interesting. Matter of "fact": S4's just sound like boring milking of the concept.

It is deeper than that which is the part where me being more spatial comes into play.

Ancient humanity must have been naturally spartan like or went through a change like the forerunners if they were to contest them. Combat will always come to Hand to Hand:That would be impossible if Ancient humans were like the current humans in lore. Which is where Orion comes in.

The datapads show that a group of AIs created by Ancient man is actually pulling the strings. Of their many goals was to improve what ORION started and spread that to the general populace, stating that this is needed for humanity to survive for another 200,000 years. Which is why the SIII program switched to injections instead of surgeries and why the SIV program is now taking volunteers.

Within 50 years if not 25 Humanity will have A populace that are all spartan like. I am not saying that i like the Idea of SIV's popping out of thin air but i am seeing the bigger picture.

What? You make no sense. I couldn't even read half of what you said.

I wasn't saying anything about S IV's being in Halo 4. I was saying that the story won't just be about MC and C. I was using S IV's as an example.

Them being stationed out there doesn't mean a think

Yes it does. Your explanation doesn't mean anything.

Chief isn't aware of the SIII project (which cortana has slight knowledge of) so a SIV project would blow his mind. Which is where the explaining would have to come in.

= Cool story bro. Literally.

Where and why do you even think SIV's would be in halo 4?

The Infinity and Franky because of what he said in the A to Z clip. I don't know where, and you sure as hell don't either. Your guess is as good as mine. Not more likely or less.

  • 12.03.2011 11:14 AM PDT

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

No, keep the spotlight on Chief. If anything, I'd like to see the Spartans who were stuck in the Shield World. Or did they already touch upon that in Glasslands?

*GoO spoilers*
I recall Halsey, Tom, Lucy, Kelly, and some others at the end of Ghosts of Onyx being in the Shield World. The reunion of Blue Team anybody? (somewhat)

So because they were stationed there once in the past they must be there for the next major event?

I could list an indefinite amount of scenarios that prove that wrong.

I never thought about the times.

But I do have some counter evidence. The Infinity was in Halo 4 concept art. Which means it is intended to be in the game.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

You forget that some concept arts usually don't get added in the final version of game. Look at Halo 2 for instance. And you know that Microsoft doesn't like to wait.

In other words, we have no evidence that UNSC or Covenant will be in Halo 4. Simply put, we only can speculate.

You yourself said you forgot about the time.

In Glasslands it was said Some SIVs were station there awhile ago. It does not say nor imply that they are currently stationed there: For all we know Infinity is to the SIVs as Damascus Is to the SIIs. The SIIIs also had the UNSC hopeful if i remember correctly.

We don't know the stage of the program but since it needs more funding and is about to fully open up it isn't done yet.

Is there going to be a sequel to glasslands? If so, the below sentence is void.

Why would they introduce The SIV's if they were just going to abondon the story about them? Or not continue the story about them?

Also to the guy above Grey. Franky said, when they announced the new trilogy that they "FOUND" a story that fits into a trilogy. This means they already know what the story is about. This means they create concepts of things actually intended to be in the game.

It isn't void whatsoever. Read this.

The entire forerunner trilogy was written out before they even finished plotting out the game. They are then going to take some elements from Glasslands (not the books that have yet to even be written) and put them into halo for. So far those elements are installation 3,infinity, and possibly halsey.

Glasslands isn't a factor for halo 4 cryptum is.

Major spelling errors right there.

OK, I see it now. Forunner trilogy is the baseline for Halo 4. Glasslands is just a Halo novel.

Also, I just read an article on IGN that, Franky confirmed that Master Chief won't be wearing his old Armour in Halo 4 and there is a canon reason for it.

"Chief's armor will undergo some changes in the new game.

"There's some fairly radical modifications to his armor," O'Connor said. "Some of those are an artistic evolution, but some are connected to the story. We just can't talk about it yet. He's been in space for a long time."

You paraphrased out the ass to try and indirectly support yourself. His armor is getting a graphical update and changed due to Mark VI having some nanomachines in the armor that fix it in cryo. Which was brought up in Glasslands.

Artistic changes+ Graphical update+ canonical change= Mark VI in halo 4.

Not impossible seeing how the concept was brought up in cryptum,The book you have been saying for the longest will be involved in halo 4.

Um that would be far easier to explain than having Spartan IVs and "The covenant"(which no longer exists) in the game.

As i said half of it is explained from it being a new game, if anything that will be enough for the majority. Nobody said anything about chief getting different gloves and the arby changing looks from halo 2-3.
