"A life lived for others is the only life worth living" - Albert Einstein

"I have your RCON right here." - Iggwilv

"Always my pleasure to be lazy." - InvasionImminent

So today I get on Marathon 2: Durandal PC version. Thought "Hey, they added the new textures from the XBLA remake. Why not get on?" I start up the game, go into the first encounter, the BoBs start teleporting out, and I hear one say "See you starside!".

I'm probably just fuzzy on remembering things, but I can't remember ever hearing that from the times I've played it before. Was this put into the game when updating it to promote whatever the new IP is or has it always been there? The entire phrase screams Marathon to me, but I just wanted to check with everyone here.

It has always been like that. I'm 99.99% sure.

I am...whimsical today.

I seem to remember hearing it when I played the Aleph One version a few years back.
I also remember thinking 'Ooh Marathon' when I first heard it used in relation to Destiny.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yeah, that is what B.O.Bs have always said in the Marathon games, usually before they teleport away.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I'm pretty certain they have always been saying it.

Bungie's using "See You Starside" just as a preliminary slogan for whatever their next project is, probably as an homage to Marathon. I don't think it is Marathon though, considering they've stated it's a new IP.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

True, but they have renewed their license for Marathon. Note the lack of Marathon emblem in ODST and Reach.
