Just out of curiosity, after playing the first Marathon for a while it got me thinking. Would Bungie make another Marathon game? I have yet to finish the second and third games meaning that I dont know how it ends for the protagonist of the series. But would Bungie actully think about making a fourth Marathon game.

I mean they still have the rights to Marathon so that wouldnt be a problem, and now that people are downloading the trilogy (even though its been free since 2004) in the new Aleph 1.0 engine it will give them a chance to play through it.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

You want Bungie to "Go to Infinity and beyond?".

I think that is already taken. :P

  • 12.02.2011 3:22 PM PDT

Probably not. I don't think there are any loose ends at the end of the trilogy.

What is there to do after Infinity?

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

Doubt it, there seems to be no reason for another.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I hope not. I hope for Bungie to move onto something completely new and unexpected of them. I believe they are fully capbale of it.

I'm hating it now Bungie is going dark on us...

I miss their loving...

I really don't know due to the fact that I have not played it yet. Maybe I should have played it before I posted this. or read up on it.

That would be a good idea. :p

Marathon ended with Infinity and you can't go past infinity really. I do like the "see you starside" reference Bungie is using from the B.O.Bs from Marathon.

Personally I would NOT like to see a new Marathon game, why should Bungie dwell in the past instead of embracing the future?

I think an original game series is coming next.

I wonder if Bungie purposefully named their next game series after the final line of Marathon Infinity.

I know who you are. You are Destiny.

But yeah, their next game is definitely going to be original.

I am sure Bungie's next game will have MANY references from Marathon, Myth, Oni, and Halo. Just as Halo has had in the past.

What could be interesting is Bungie could pull a Parthways to Darkness again and make Pathways to Darkness and Marathon part of this universe.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I highly doubt they will be making another marathon, they already ran it for awhile.

It closed. Like an old bait and tackle shop after the river was dammed.

Ah. So it imploded. Gotcha. Only question then... who wrote the epilogue screen if the universe had been "closed"?

Marathon is a sequel to PiD.

I believe that it was an old friend.

I also believe that what he called us (the Player Character) was very interesting. Almost prophetic.

The epilogue took place billions of years after the real ending. It was Durandal's last thoughts as the Universe entered closure.

I pretty sure they like to end things at trilogy. It'd be nice though.

  • 12.02.2011 4:25 PM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

Marathon was a good game from a revolved era, just like Halo. Now it's time for them to move on something else. Going back to Marathon is inconceivable, this is the past. It's remind me whe Christophe Ballestra (head of ND) says they refuse to return in their past in making a 4th Jak and Daxter, seriously why did they would do that ?

It has been a while since I have beaten Infinity and saw the ending screen. Never even realized that Destiny was there right under our noses the whole time.

But even though it does reference destiny the new game most likely has nothing to do with Marathon. There might be references littered about, just like there were in Halo, but the universes will not be connected.
