I recognized that he's trolling. Therefore I'm not being trolled. I don't see how anyone in here likes him. He's a total rookie and his attempts at trolling are pedestrian and cringe-worthy.

Game competition is not a legitimate reason for the games MM being so low. This is the number one excuse I see used to explain why MM has such low numbers. Like, you can't be serious. If you use that reason, which is really just an excuse, for Reach; stop it.
I like Halo: Reach. Halo: Reach is a good game.

I haven't put it in but once in months. Because I've been playing newer games that just came out.

Wow you look pretty silly now, don't you?

Okay, if it is not a legitimate reason,

GIVE US ONE! I want to hear what you think is causing the population to be low.

I see no proof to dispute the claim. Just you denying a given fact that newer games have more people playing them.

I, for one, don't give a rats-arse if the MM population is low. Halo: Reach has more to offer than just the Multiplayer.

1) Because Reach failed to live up to the expectations of the majority of the Halo 3 population.

2) Too many things about dislike of Reach that made people lose interest way early, and drove them to play other things.

3) There are a multitude of other, better games out there to play.

These are why Reach population is and will continue to be low. No TU's or revisions will change that. That ship of opportunity has long since sailed.

Reach was the only decent game out for some time that had some replayability value.
Once better games started coming out, people just placed Reach in the dusty bookshelf.

Reach is a decent compared to most out there but when you start comparing it to previous installments in the serious, it's a failure.

Reach's promotion line, "Remember Reach".
We will remember it indeed.
Remember it as the worst title in the series and the best example of "to not do".

I've yet to play Dead Space 2. The first one was so good.

You honestly think he speaks for just 1 person? I have also not touched reach in months, I found forza and mw3 more fun to play with my friends.

You obviously like "the competition" more. That might not make Reach a bad game, but Reach in and of itself has only itself to blame for you not playing it in months.

You can't say "I love this game it's great! But I haven't played it in months..."

We're not talking about Super Mario here...we're talking about a "Swan Song" Halo game that is barely a YEAR OLD.

OP may be over generalizing here but seriously: If you use that reason, which is really just an excuse, for Reach; stop it.

That's all you're doing, making excuses to excuse Reach's lackluster retention.

  • 12.03.2011 8:53 AM PDT

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Honestly, I see this post as the exact opposite. It's denouncing the reason for reach's low population as an excuse to bash it.

I'm willing to bet that if Halo 3 came out at the exact same time reach did, its population would be the same, if not lower than reach's. Why? because all the teens and new gamers hate halo as a series and a franchise, not a game.

I like how you didn't give a single legitimate reason why that is a bad reason. Saying "This is a stupid reason because it is stupid" isn't an argument.

The fact is that other games came out and people want to play them too. It's also true that CoD appeals to the masses with its casual gameplay and therefore tons play it. You don't have to try hard to be good at it, you can quit until you find easy people, and you can drop in, drop out at will. That, combined with all the new games people want to play (Skyrim, Gears 3, Battlefield 3, MW3, Assassin's Creed, etc) means less people for Halo.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Halo 3 had just as much competition as lolreach does now, and it never dropped out of second, save for the one week MW2 came out when CoD 4 and MW2 were above it. Before MW2, it owned the top spot despite all the competition, then held firm at second, still drawing +110k at any given time during the day until lolreach came out.
