You are only as good as your internet connection? When you shoot a guy in the head, it bleeds and he doesnt die. Thats lag letting you down. In my opinion, the best ranking players have good internet, because internet speed has a massive effect on the effectiveness of your DMR

Hitscan has mitigated the impact of internet connection on gameplay.

  • 12.02.2011 4:34 PM PDT

yeah but if your connection is really slow, your opponents are not quite where they appear to be

PSR = (((K+A)/D)*Win%)*120
The average player's PSR = 100

Nope. My internet sucks and I do alright.

I don't 100% Agree. A lot of the time, I'm stuck in a game which is lagging like mad and all that. I still retain a 1.80+ K/D And do better than most people on my team that camp power weapons and vehicles.

Mostly true, however those with 'lesser' internet connections (i.e. Aussies) are forced to play off-host almost 100% of the time, so having to cope with up to 500 ms of latency against tryhards and still beat them says a lot.

as i play on a 0.3Mb upload connection, and i know it holds me back, i can't not vote true.

I hate a lot of things but, art isn't one.

I have 24D/8U and still run into very one-sided lag oriented situations. Sadly, lag is still a bane on skillful online multi-player.

Having the best internet in the world still doesn't help you aim.

Just like anything else.. Just because you have the best sporting equipment doesn't mean you're going to be the best athlete over someone who has lesser equipment.

My third montage!

Neither agree nor disagree. Although I can definitely tell the difference playing on my home connection, small town cable vs my friend who has fiber optic DSL. HUGE difference.

Of course not but when you shoot someone 5 times and 2 of the shots do no damage because your internet sucks ass its pretty lame

spiral out

I play grifball and I have to say host is a huge deal. I can still do good with a crap host, but godlike games occur when I have a good connection.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

I say yes. If you have bad packet loss and only half your shots register then that can make a huge difference.

I am in a relationship, and the woman's name is life. Either I'm -blam!- my Life, or my Life is -blam!- me.

It's not a 100% dependency, but connection definitely helps you play. When you're in the red and upon throwing a grenade you discover that your foot is a cactus on fire, you won't hold up to the host.

i pull a 1.96 k/d on dsl

Please take the time to do a little research before you start flaming in the forums....

The greatest ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about

Its not entirely host... In grifball yes host is a big factor, but in Regular matchmaking host isnt a good thing to have bcuz people with host have to pace their shots to get a perfect 5shot and those without host can spam and get easy 5shot kils with the DMR.
Thats my opinion and if u watch mlg they dont like getting host when they play lan... which is why they always switch hosts after each game.

So you're saying a good player would loose against someone who just picked up the game, due to connection? No. It would be more difficult than a normal connection, but they really shouldn't loose unless it's the ridiculous teleporting kind of lag.

Does connection influence the outcome of the game? Of course, play any given grifball game and see the difference in how long it takes for your hammer blast to come out.

  • 12.03.2011 3:36 PM PDT

False.

Well, to a degree. Badwidth means nothing.

I get no noticeable lag when my connection is like this. I've still got a 3.0 in Team slayer.

On average it's like this and as I said, the difference isn't noticeable.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.
