Subject: Host Question

First things first, I'm terrible at this game. And I know it lol.

Anyways, I got a new internet connection about a month ago, very much due for an upgrade.
When I got back on Halo Reach, I was getting host nearly every game, which was awesome, but I figured they'd eventually flag me for it.
Now I've gone two weeks without getting host once, while my internet connection is still the same. I'm assuming I've been "host banned" or something like that.

My question is: does that "host ban" ever get lifted?
Thanks!

If I could change a few things in Reach, it would be....

*Get rid of yoinking and medal ( yoinking is retarded )
*Force Bungie to work again and get rid of 343's existence
* A few other things

Well, I'm not sure if it's a thing, but I'm assuming there's some system like that.
Because for the first half of the month, I was getting host nearly every game. And then this last two weeks, I haven't had host once.
I figured this meant there's some kind of "host ban" to prevent cheating or something.
I don't know though.

Forgot to check this lol. You can tell you're host in Halo Reach by using the bloom effect on weapons. When you're not host, the bloom does not reset as soon as you respawn. When you are host, the bloom visually resets when you spawn. It kind of looks like you just shot your weapon.

343i wanted to make Reach more fun for people with a walmart connection, so they implemented a ban on those who get host too often.

OP, your ban will be lifted when other people get host enough to get host banned. It is an odd man out system put in place to give everybody a chance to get host.

"I'll tell you right now, if you ever see someone called ll wa1do ll... leave the game immediately. My friend knows him, I've been in his party a few times, do not mess with this guy. From what I've heard, he's the real deal. I also heard someone made a guy named Wa2do (similar to his name) and then he hacked that guy and boosted off his level." -From Minou on Bungie.net

Uh what?
Did you notice the difference in the quality of hosts when 343i took over?

Host bans happened in H3 when you standbyed.

I doubt Reach has Host Bans because theres no ranks, nothing to cheat for, which is why they don't have a system in place to catch booters.

OP I doubt you're host banned.

Well something is happening then.
In my entire time of Halo, I've never cheated.

But as of posting this original topic and now, I still haven't gotten host. So add that to the previous time of not getting host. My Internet connection is still the same, 100 mbs download, 5 upload. Wired connection. After getting host for two or so weeks nearly every game, to not once in probably over a month.
I don't know, that seems like some sort of host ban to me...

What do you suggest is the issue? My Xbox is still receiving the fast Internet because the marketplace downloads new content super fast still, compared to what my connection used to be.

Nope. The account would receive a permanent ban. Why host ban a banned account? Doh. Actually, everything you said was a fail. You don't know what your talking about. Good day :)

  • 12.07.2011 9:30 AM PDT

So does one just have to wait out the host ban then? That's the consensus here? Lol.

Why didn't you quote me? Everything I posted ITT was obviously false information to confirm OPs worries.

Why would the system prevent someone with a good connection from getting host?

LOL

Please post a link, where a reputable source has confirmed this!

  • 12.07.2011 10:12 AM PDT

I'll post a YouTube link when I'm not on my iPhone later.
Of course it isn't confirmed though, it's just the same as telling who's host in Halo 2 and Halo 3. Sure, it migh not be right. But you can definitely tell you're playing "on" host when the bloom indicator is there.

Lol you don't have to believe me, that's fine. I didn't come to this topic to prove anything to an ignorant prick on the Internet.

Or when you have a crappy connection but pull host due to playing on a new Xbox. But if your connection gets better you can get rid of a host ban by bridging host for a little while.
