Subject: Thank You for the Best Halo Game to Date

Halo Reach with no sprint-no bloom has the most dynamic and competitive gameplay of every installment in the Halo franchise. While Halo 2/3 did matchmaking significantly better than Reach, the customization offered by Reach allowed the game to reach (punny) its full potential, while the other games fell short.

So Bungie, while you may have screwed Reach beyond recognition for default settings, your ideal of making the game customizable so that everyone has their own niche has produced the most competitive gameplay of any console fps to date (Other than Shadowrun).

Nice work.

Reach with bloom has the second least competitive online gameplay ahead of Halo 3. On lan it was the worst.

-Reach is not Halo. A good game, yes, but not Halo. -Zomechin

Reach is NOT less competitive than all the CoDs, Gears, or Bad Companies. Those games have more random crap in them than you could even begin to outline.

I meant within the Halo series.

I'd say Gears 1 is/was more competitive than Reach at release.

Last I checked, Quake 4 was on consoles, so it is technically the second most competitive by default.

Quake's playstyle is too fast to be truly competitive on consoles. You simply cannot play that quickly with a controller.

You can, but it usually requires lining up rails beforehand, and full step strafe jumping is near impossible with joysticks, but you can half-step alright.

Its wonky, but it is do-able.

Edit: You can also just get a K/M Adapter and become an untouchable -blam!- god.

It's too wonky to be considered the second most competitive console game.

My top 5:
1) Shadowrun
2) Reach TU
3) Halo 2
4) Halo CE
5) Halo 3 (lan)/pre-tu Reach (online)

That's in terms of competition. I definitely had the most fun with H3.

I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately the ideal settings haven't been put into matchmaking yet. That'll change on Tuesday though. I'm actually gonna be able to play this game again.

Luckily I have a friends list with 100 tryhards so I always have a custom game lobby to join :-)

Hope you like Objective, Squad, or Multiteam. :D

OT : Monday Night Combat was pretty competitive, however, it is filled with gimmicks. Playing it on the PC is much better then the console, though.

:(

I did in H2.

As soon as I got on I'd have 2 dozen invites from people wanting to play with me.

Off Topic, apparently Xbox will be doing an update that will allow your friends list up to 180.

Finally there are people with a brain. Reach is THE best FPS to play on a console so far. It's how they implemented matchmaking that was the problem. People don't understand the potential that this game has to offer.
