Subject: What is the Bungie Community without Halo?

"Thought I might shoot our way out, mix it up a little!"

I have always loved the sad and sorry individuals who reply to threads telling the people they are in the wrong place and I just noticed one about Halo 4!

I rarely view the Bungie forums anymore but it seems to me that things are very quiet in these parts now!

The Bungie community in real terms has really been the Halo community for a long time!

Now that so many of the Halo guys have moved on what is left here other than the sorry people trying to get a better title above thier comments?

I love Bungie for all the Halo stuff that they have done but it is the only thing I love about Bungie and the truth of it is that many people feel the same!

It makes me laugh, when I drop by the ghost forums at Bungie now all I see here is the last few desperate people hanging around with nothing good to say!

I am going now to find 343s Halo 4 forum!

I'm failing to see a point in this thread really. Obviously the people that have stuck around are waiting until Bungie announces their next IP.

  • 12.04.2011 4:16 AM PDT

Greetings from Singapore:)

The community that is here will always remain a community, despite the lack of many people that have departed with Halo.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I'm here primarily for private groups that serve as hubs for things other than Bungie... and threads like this, of course.

"Thought I might shoot our way out, mix it up a little!"

Just pushing back!

Because of Halo Bungie has been home to many people for a long time and like myself some people like to drop in and look over things from time to time!

The few people that are still here come across as arrogant and are quick with the you are not welcome around here kind of responses!

Keep it up guys! B.net will be a lonely place!

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Smart? Kind? Kinky? We're all that and so much more!

Really though, without Halo we're just plain old Bungie Fans waiting for some kind of news from one of our favorite developers.

  • 12.04.2011 5:07 AM PDT

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

The Bungie Community without Halo is all of the Marathon, PiD, Oni, Gnop!, Op: Desert Storm, and Minotaur fans.

  • 12.04.2011 6:00 AM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

If we didn't have Halo?

We would talk about Pathways to Darkness, Marathon, Myth, and Oni all day.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

It's going to get crazy when they anounce the new game.

  • 12.04.2011 6:13 AM PDT

I'm waiting for the next IP.

We'll see.

1. We have a new Community Manager (DeeJ), that has hosted "Community Ride Alongs"

Link to "Community Ride Alongs" Article.

The news will also be updated often.

2. There has been plenty of activity here, and in other forums. (Atleast for here and the Flood that I've seen...)

3. There also has been gifts like Marathon for Mac OS X and Windows to download inc. Marathon, Marathon: Durandal (Was only avaible for XBL Arcade), and Marathon Infinity all for FREE.

Link to News Article.

Website to download it from.

As well as Crimson for Iphone/ITouch/Ipad are also FREE until tomorrow.

Link to the App Store for Crimson: Steam Pirates

4. If there ever isn't any activity either blame Stosh, or just because most people are waiting for info on Bungie's new IP.

There is plenty of activity right now, but it will grow more and more after Bungie's IP is released and is spread out through the interwebs.

I'm sure this next game they're working on will be even better that what Halo was.

You won't be missed.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

What is the Bungie Community without Halo?
The Bungie Community... A lot of the people here are Bungie fans. The ones that are still here are probably here because they like Bungie and the games they make not just Halo. Most of us are waiting for Bungie's next game.

  • 12.04.2011 7:27 AM PDT

Though I became a Bungie fan because of Halo, I am still a Bungie fan. I'm waiting on their next IP.

  • 12.04.2011 7:37 AM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Have I just been trolled?

I pose this question to the OP. What will 343 be without Halo? A game developer, that if i remember correctly, was specifically created to handle the Halo franchise. Unless they plan on milking the series beyond a new trilogy I hope they have a plan for the future.

As for the Bungie Community, we existed before Halo and we'll exist well after it. The community is just waiting for the light to be cast on the darkness and Bungie's new IP to be revealed.

Remember kids: when Uncle Delta tells you he has sweeties, he isn't lying.

Now get in the van.

The Black Chapter

I stopped viewing this place as a Halo forum probably four years ago.
As long as you've got private groups and don't mind The Flood, I see no reason to consider this place the Halo Community. A lot of people I know on here don't play much Halo, and haven't for years.

  • 12.04.2011 9:22 AM PDT

We came for Halo, stayed for Bungie/the Community.

Yeah the people who are still sticking around are BUNGIE fans not just Halo fans.

When he was younger, he was the one who always had the jokes and riddles that would keep the spirits of the Spartans high. Over the years however, his lifetime of combat had hardened him, as it had all of the Spartans. Within Will, John thought, something special had been lost.

No, OP, Halo may have brought a lot of hustle and bustle to the forums, but this was a very different place before then. It was after Halo 3 that the community as it was fragmented and hasn't been the same since.

And when you think about it the reason things are dull around here is because Bungie has no current IP since Halo was appropriated by M$. Instead of the traditional easing out the old into the new, in urk's own words this transition has been more like ripping off a band-aid. The studio is dark, and there really isn't that much going on.

You have no idea what this place was back in the day. It wasn't Halo that made this place.

This, and just because the pace of the "reach" forum died doesn't mean the community died. this place is still pretty active despite there being nothing to discuss. The bungie community will survie, just as it did before Halo.
