Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

The same could be said for avatars though. They're just as stupid and unnecessary as smilies, and even clutter up the page somewhat.

It's not like I would use them myself, but not implementing smilies because they look 'silly' seems like a cop out - especially considering numerous things on this site could be considered the same.

Time stamp anyone?

Who said we needed avatars? Certainly not Achronos, be gracious that you at least have avatars to choose from and can submit your own.

You can't even argue for smilies, they're that stupid.

The time stamp is quite necessary, it keeps people from bumping dead topics it also lets us see when the person you're quoting posted last so it gives us a good bead on if we'll get a response or not.

The lack of custom avatars and smilies is by design. The first is because we don't feel like managing the Internet's collective perversions (or dealing with issues of hosting images that we don't own). Smilies are just stupid looking - cluttering up the actual content. Same goes for signatures. They just clutter up the page - if someone wants info about you, they can click through to your profile. Most users won't, because, well, they don't care.

While there are a few features that we probably do need to add, they're mostly in the realm of sorts/searching. You know, useful stuff, not silly stuff like smilies.

Wow so I read the entire OP thinking wow what are these other feature and what more would somebody need? Then I got to the end.... custom avatars and smileys... Achronos pretty much summed it up for me.

I feel that these forums are more clean and more organized than others. I like how there isn't a lot of information on users because quite frankly I don't care.

I was referring to the edit stamp.

Useful for OP's that are frequently updated. Tells you the date of the update.

Sure, telling people when a post is edited is fine.

BUT POSTING IT LIKE THIS IS JUST 'SILLY'

Would you rather they make it more difficult to see? I like it the way it is, I can see it clearly.

And I think smilies are fine too. I can see them clearly.

Obviously it's opinionated, but to me smilies aren't any less 'silly' as an overly obvious time stamp.

Although tools like these are fun and helpful, they can easily be used in an immature and irresponsible way. If you look at other forums on different sites you may or may not see people abuse these type of things, but you have to remember that those sites have completely different communities when it comes to age, maturity, and interests.

Point is that people here will abuse tools like the ones you listed.

Smilies don't even compare to the time stamp. The time stamp serves a purpose, the smilies just take up room and look ridiculous.

There was something I thought would be cool. Kinda like on Reddit the up-vote/down-vote or on Facebook the like button. I think that would clean up alot of posts where they just simply quote the post and say agree, like I did up top, or worse just quote and write nothing. (Pet-Peev)

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

I hate quoting or responding to employees because everyone does it but i genuinely agree with what Achronos said.

I don't want to see custom avatars, smilies or signatures. It just fills up the page with crap. I come here to read and have discussions not be overwhelmed by pictures and signatures.

Quinntology.

Are you trolling or something? What exactly do smilies add to a conversation? Nothing. They are useless pixels on the screen that attempt to portray an emotion. And if you have been around as long as your blue bar implies, you should know full well why we don't have custom avatars. Use Coup if you're that desperate.

Why do we have avatars? Theyre just clutter on the page. Why do we have colored text? People with gold text do nothing but draw attention to themselves and away from the topics. Why does this place have colors at all?
