anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

OK, simple topic. List five things, with reasons if you want, that you miss about Halo One. It can be anything you can remember :-) These could be suggestions for reimplementation to future Bungie game releases; or just cool things you used to like.

I'll go first:

* Fall Damage - This is great; the spartans are falling really quite far, and should sustain damage. It's great because it means you cannot outrun a cunning enemy by simply jumping off a cliff; you'll die. Also, the damage can be reduced or eliminated by crouching at the right time :)

* Chill Out - This level is absolutely sublime, and I think it should have been the one remade map (i.e. Wizard > Warlock).

* Campaign AI - I think the original elites / grunts / jackals / hunters were far more cunning than those of Halo2. Admittedly the Hunters were too easy to kill, and the Brutes are a nice addition, but the general "feel" of the enemy was better.

* Assault Rifle - Simple enough; it felt like an actual gun.

* Grenade Physics - Again, sublime. Fancy sticking a shade turret across the chasm in Assault on the Control Room? go right ahead!

Ok all yours are good, but I'm sure I can come up with more.

* Hang 'em high. Tombstones for everybody, baby.

* Grenading weapons and powerups to yourself - that was a great use of the fun, reactive physics engine.

* British Marines - What happened? Did they get shipped back home? Damn racists! I see they kept the aussies....

* Campaign structure - not only did some of the levels have a great, open, explorable feel, but the scripted battles and set-pieces were wonderfully choreographed (taking control of the landing pad in Truth and Reconciliation or driving the Hog through the Pillar of Autumn for example... great mesh of storytelling and gameplay)

* Scary Flood!

1. The 3 shot pistol -- all skill

2. Damnation and Chill out -- need I say more

3. Double Melees -- most fun thing ever

4. Having health tanks so that if I get someone down to one hit he will be affected by it (unlike in Halo 2)

5. Fall damage -- you can't just jump off a huge cliff to dodge an enemy, you have to take into account a high fall (makes sense).

*Human ammo laing around on all the SP maps. You could always find it somewhere!
*The old grenade (human) it felt more like a grenade in H1.
*The flood is coming in large numbers, not two and two.
*The Shade turrent. ok, not so useful, but it was cool!
*And the covie-dropship, it was also cool :-)

I really miss the stealth aspects of the game. Like in AoTCR you could choose to kill the grunts in the halls silently are to just run and gun. I like having that kind of choice and I didn't see any in Halo 2.

I love Hang em high!!! Its the best map in halo CE! they should of definately remade that one, since the BR replaced the pistol.

um... um... um... let me think.

1. Cheesy tactical advice from cortana around every bend at the start of the t&r and other places.

2. Slow introduction of enemies/weapons/vehicles... this happened too fast in halo2 and in no time I'd seen everything.

3. A slight bit of weapon balance, in halo2 I don't like having to have a rocket launcher to destroy a banshee. You could just use a pistol or an assault rifle in halo1. In no way am I saying we should support little children on xbl. This was slightly less annoying to have in the campaign... but I'd scrap it because you'd have to fit multiplayer as well :S

4. Some of the map set-out like it would be a fair bit of trekking at the start of 343 gs before you saw the flood. In halo2 you round a corner and jump to floor level and its done. Something different would usually happen in halo1 mission thats related... like in the t&r you enter the ship or in the maw when you destroy the engine room thingys.

Have you not heard of The Arbiter? That has lots of sleeping grunts combined with a few sentries.

1. Human weapons were so much more futuristic and effective. Come on, who wants to charge into battle with an SMG and an M6C Pistol?

2. The Plasma Pistol actually worked, and the Needler made some truly spectacular explosions.

3. Sgt. Stacker.

4. The Scorpion, you never used it too much in Campaign and it was so much more powerful and faster.

5. Warthog jumping.

Heres my 5.

1. All those sleeping Grunts EVERYWHERE with like 2 Elites walking around.

2. Weapons that acted as guns, not "supersoakers of the future"

3. The general feel of the levels, like take out thsose hunters, and you can explore, or find hidden powerups and go Sam Fisher or Arnold Swartzenegger on them..

4. Vehicles could be destroyed while someone was in them....like flood shoot me with 10 rockets in easy and I'm still alive....in a ghost.

5. Multiplayer maps like Dmnation and Hang em High.

I miss the Scorpian Tank. That can move as fast as a warthog O_o

I miss the old flood. They were cool, and worth killing with the shotgun. Halo 2's sword takes away the fun because you can simply slice them and they'll be obliterated.

I liked the vehicles when they never blew up. It's fun to take 2 warthogs and ram them face first into eachother to see who'd go flying and then splatter them while they're desperatly trying to get into their Hog. It would've been nice if Halo 2 had a vehicles explosion on/off option.

I love the AR from Halo CE, and the Shotgun. I hate the pistol, I think it's good they took that out in Halo 2. Although that Battle Rifle is pretty lame.

That's about it. Only 4 >_>;

1. Big open levels with lots of nautre elements (Halo, AOTCR, Truth and Reconciliation, Silent Cartographer)

2. Pistol, Assault rifle, good shotgun, good plasma pistol with less homing, needler with cool explosions

3. Covenant dropships and levels where you infiltrate covenant ships (TaR, Keyes)

4. Cool storyline that comes together nicely

5. Cool mission design (warthog run, power-ups during campaign, well thought out battles)

6. That mysterious, eerie feel to some of the levels

7. Music that fits the levels better and more weird, cool music.

There's 7 things I miss

4. The creepiness of the game

The overall originality of it...halo ce is almost a classic now....it was just such an original great game, the story line was simple and good, the enemies were ferocious and you could not relate to them like you can in halo 2, the maps and weapons and everything and how it was put together was just really good.

None of you seem to think about how it would actually be like in really gameplay. What if you're playing on Ascension, and you go on the lift...

Anywho.

1. Riding on the Scorpion Tank pods.
2. Flash Light.
3. The feel of the Rocket Launcher.
4. How the flood ran at you menacingly.
5. The Grunt's random (funny) remarks and animations. They actually panicked when they got stuck. And Elites' actually ran at you.

Gosh only 5! Here we go:

1. The Needler. The feel of it and the multiple explosions. Also, the way fallen grenades go off (I thought that was quite original when I first played). the huge, huge explosions you could get sometimes, with guns and bodies fying over the bridge, and the lighting, and...

2. The sound of some of the stages (Guilty Spark, Longest, Derelic, The Library, e.t.c)

3. Capping grunts in the head with the assault pistol.

4. Everthing about the Flood (the wierd noises the little ones make).

5.The Worthog turret: such power!

Can I write some more? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

1. Cheif can't throw grenades worth crap anymore

2. Fall Damage, falling 6 levels of a building and not getting hurt...come on!!

3. Having health, because if they get one sniper shot off, they can regenerate the hurt health.

4. The Assault Rifle, i love that gun. I'm lethal with it.

5. Hang 'em High, i miss sniping innocent people that don't know where i am.

1. when you get hit by tank the vehicle flips and when you road up the tank on the ghost.

2. there should be an automatic and semi-auto switch on the battle rifle because the new rifle looks ok but i liked the way the older one shot.

3.fall damage.

4.and some of the old lvl's e.g side winder and others

5.i liked it on missions when it was like stealthy , like when the grunts are asleep you could just whach em and they wouldnt all wake up as on the new one if you walk up to them they all wake up , and i liked it when the elites were on patrol and you could just knock em out in one hit to the back of the head.

1.the way how the flood would scare you (i've played halo so many times and they are still pretty random)
2.even after grunts and that were dead you could melee blood out of them
3.Assault rifle (its soo much better than the smg and br is the upgrade to the pistol not ar)
4.how most of the time you could muck around and find new stuff

1. Covie dropships(if you play the lvl Halo and you see the dropship come in they make some impressive manuvers =D)
2.WEAPONS THAT WORKED!: M6D pistol,MA56 Assualt Rifle, M90 Shotgun(that thing had range!=D)
3. No spazzing dead bodies(dead bodys will spaz and flip in Halo 2=()
4. Big Scary thing run away! (flood=O)
5. A campain that never got old=D
6. Night vision on the Snipy=)
7. Funny grunts=D
8. Exploding fuel rod guns=D
9. When a covie died ( from an explosian=D) they sceamed
10. Needler meele: one hit kills all=)
