Subject: FraggedNation Needs You!

That's right the folks at FraggedNation.com need you to build the Halo and Halo 2 for PC community. It's the best way to get back into the game or just have fun in a competitive way.

Personally, I've met all kinds of players playing in FraggedNation's various Halo Reach ladders and feel that if this community is built big enough then all the PC gamers can do the same.

Currently there is about 20 members in the Halo CE PC division; however, this should change as we're introducing a new feature, The FraggedNation Halo Combat Evolved PC Championship. Within this the whole year will make the decision of who will be The FraggedNation Halo Combat Evolved PC Champion.

I'm not sure if this will carry over to the Halo 2 division, but CE is doing it.

Sounds interesting yet? Not yet? Well, let's spice it up a bit the winner for the CE championship will receive a prize (prize yet to be decided).

Sounds good? Join now http://www.fraggednation.com/pc/halo-combat-evolved.

No.

Second this.

This sounds so contrived and...flowery. I hate the delivery, and I hate the idea.

Excuse me? H2V is skillful. Try 1v1'ing me or anyone in my clan. We would crush you in any game.

Well, let's put it this way. You won't find a more skilled and understanding staff than the one a FraggedNation. So if you're against it more power to you, but let's face it MLG SUCKS compared to FraggedNation.

And before anyone says I'm unskilled because I'm negative K/D or that I don't know what MLG is. Guess what? I do. So if you still don't like then please keep your comments (and challenges) to your self.

I don't mean to be rude, but not many people in the PC forums like the recruitment for clans these days. As for MLG, well, I can't comment out of personal experience, but from what i've seen some are good, others are terrible. Recommend you try recruiting on a different forum, it's a nice idea though.

Or just correct. Admittedly, I did believe for a while that Halo 2 was not skillful, but look at it! MLG leagues, clans, montages, funtages, guntages, and the campaign. It really is skillful, and one of the most feature complete games ever. And there's plenty to keep players playing even now, with the glitches that keep the game fresh like mum's sandwhiches.

Maybe, I did kinda make this sound like a clan recruitment scheme. It's not by the way. FraggedNation is a gaming community that hosts prized events as well as competitive gaming. It's not just for PC gaming.

I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A CLAN RECRUITMENT SCHEME.

Sorry for the confusion. You are more than welcome to start a clan on FraggedNation or just a competitive team, but 1v1's are still predominantly active here.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

So in your world, CAL/CPL don't exist. Okay.

I'll be flat out honest with you. I don't know how those are ran at all. Also, until I just searched for them I didn't even know what they are.

That statement was more directed to anyone using MLG or GameBattles. I don't have experience with any of the others that are out there so I won't directly make a comment about them.

I'm sorry if I have offended you in any way.

I would love to see competitive Halo PC return, but I hardly think there's anyone left around who cares enough for it. That being said, you should still try if you want. That's why I'm still trying with my ProMod. :P

Thanks for wanting to see competitive Halo PC return. Could you help me out by either spreading the word of this forum post or joining yourself? If not, I understand.

It's not official yet but the prize for winning the year-long tournament could be FraggedNation Credits which you can redeem for cash or it could be MS Points or certain other items.

Currently there is an event on FraggedNation that The Gaming Saloon RiffTrax is sponsoring where the winner of the tournament will get to not only get an option to be a guest but also gets to pick the show that they will riff on for March 10th, 2012.

What form of anti-cheat are you using for the tournament?

Currently we're just going off of the players and the standards that are set along the community. However, I'm working on some for just Halo CE.

You really can't be running an open tourney without some form of anti-cheat in HPC. There's no built-in anti-cheat and it's extremely easy to cheat in the game. Given the attitudes of many people who still play HPC competitively, you can't expect people to just be honest and not fire up an aimbot or wireframe, especially if there's a tangible prize on the line.

I stopped playing competitively when I realized that it's not much of a viable competitive platform from a core gameplay standpoint, but what most people did during the time I played was record. Each player would have to record the entire match from start to finish. That way, if a cheating accusation came up, the other player could just present his video and prove his innocence. Conversely, refusing to submit a video was generally considered a sign of guilt resulting in disqualification.

  • 12.13.2011 9:03 PM PDT

First, I understand that you can't rely on people to be completely or even partially honest when there is a prize on the line.

Second, thanks for giving me this suggestion. I'll see what I can do about this. Do you have any ideas of a program that could be user client-side for each person that would be free? I'm looking for something like this that may exploit cheaters.

I'll get on the ball getting these ideas and some others in place to keep cheating from happening.

Again thanks for bringing this up DusK.

Xfire allows you to record in-game footage. That program would also be effective at organizing players for tournament matches by making a custom group as well, so you'd be killing two birds with one stone.

I wish H2V was a larger community... It's a pity that a great game like H2 only has around 40-70 players a day. If only it was transcribed onto the PC in a better way, then I would buy it. Even Halo CE has a larger population then H2V (Halo CE is still a great game.)

Maybe if 343i invests later in PC gaming then we will have a new Halo.
