Step 3.1 [video] - Finished painting my initial sketch for the topography of the mountain section. Tested my painting in 3D to see how it looked. Pretty good so far. Will continue to go over the image to refine it further. Also threw in a model of a Warthog that I did for some sense of scale, but I believe that it should probably be even smaller.

Also threw in some of Marty's sneaky-sneaky Destiny music that you can hear at the start of O Brave New Worlds (at the end anyway; the first part is a free track I found online).

Nice work, but aren't the mountain tops a bit too high or are they really supposed to look like that? Nonetheless, I like the way you demonstrated the size of the map with the Warthog model. What did you base it on anyway? As far as I know we only have the number 40,000 that could be anything.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to finished step 3 and after that, the step 4. Everything looks very promising this far.

Any of you guys think 'Destiny' is the same project as Blizzard's 'Titan'?

No. That's stupid as hell.

The only possible connection Titan could have to Bungie is that it *may* be the re-purposing of the Halo MMO that ensemble was working on a long time ago.

Great job! I'm much too excited about the new project....

This is what I love about this community. Taking apart things and finding the smallest but amazing details :)

Same question here. What did you base it off of?

Stupid as hell? That two of the best game companies in the world (owned by the same publisher) would be working together on a project? Come on..

They [Blizzard and Bungie]seem to have the same round about ideas (from gathering bits of info/leaks etc) and would quite obviously compliment one another well. Why would Activision want them competing, when together they could make something even better?

I might be wrong, of course. It's not 'stupid as hell' though.

  • 12.17.2011 7:10 AM PDT

MMO (Blizzard) + FPS (Bungie) = MMOFPS ActiBlizzBungie.

Why would ActiBlizz buy Bungie, at (from what I gather) the same time they're [Blizzard] beginning development of an MMOFPS (as the hints imply) and not use Bungie's expertise?

Both companies working on 'HUGE' projects, that are being kept well under wraps, looking to be announced at around the same time (obviously, if my theory is correct THE same time).. How is it 'stupid as hell' to put forward a theory that they might be working together?

Blizzard and Bungie (if working together) WOULD OBVIOUSLY make an IMMENSELY RIDICULOUS game.. Why wouldn't ActiBlizzBungie want that? Why wouldn't EVERYONE want that?.. More to the point.

Great games equal great revenue.. Money weighs more than egos. (Blizzard joined Activision, money. Bungie joined ActiBlizz, money.)

'Stupid as hell' my left toe.

Two huge planets. Two huge races.

Opt to stay on your planet and play the MMORPG crafting/levelling skills/earning money in the hope to fund your own army/team (aka guild/clan) with the objective of executing successful invasions over the opposing race, taking control of the other side of the galaxy. THE ENTIRE GALAXY.

Time travel, space exploration.. hyper speeds, gigantic battle cruisers.

Combines Xbox720, PS3 and PC players. (consoles connecting to PC servers LOL- I'm not sure of the capabilities, but they can't be too far off)

Or, play the role of a soldier.

levelling to earn money for armour/skill sets that enable you to do a better job on the field, allowing you to advance to controlling larger teams of infiltrators/special ops teams. With an improved chance of being called upon by 'the powers'.

Levelling is done by competing in 'friendly' competition, (think laser tag/paintball/non-fatal slayer etc.) where you get to know and trust your allies before being drafted by leaders of clans/guilds to invade and take over sections of the opposite race's planet.

Will your race win the war? or will you be forced to live a life of solitude.. Small teams floating endlessly around the galaxy while you look back at what you once called home, now economised by the opposing race..

Dare to invade? Shape your destiny. See you starside.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

I think we should clarify that Bungie is not owned by Activision-Blizzard, and they haven't "joined" them in such a manner. It's a publishing partnership, but that still doesn't rule out the possibility of Blizzard and Bungie correlating on projects. The problem would be the legalities over who owns what content. Bungie was quite adamant about keeping the IP rights of anything they made.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

But remember they lost the IP rights of games like Oni, Myth 1 and 2, and of course halo.

That's why they were adamant about keeping Destiny's IP rights when shopping for a publisher.
