Subject: Why are so many ball carriers in Grifball -blam!- -blam!-s

Anyone notice this? They hide behind their other teammates and back off at any chance of confrontation. Hell you have a shield and if you perry someone while they melee you, you get the advantage. So many games I see a bomb carrier dancing around the whole game then when he finally dies I pick it up and take it deep into their side of the court for the score or to setup teammate if I get killed.

Evolved helps a little I guess because it forces the carrier to move more but damn people need to strap on some balls

Meh, it's better to go for the win when you have the chance. All it takes is for them to kill two of your guys and then you get pushed back to midfield again.

Beyond Limitations...

Ever play or watch football? Running backs just dont run into the field with no protection. They wait for their lineman to open up a hole and run through. Its called tactics which is something you obviously dont have.

I never understood why people play Grifball to win.
In Reach:
Having longer games earns more Cr.
Getting kills earns more Cr.
Getting commendations earns more Cr.

Scoring the bomb 3 times n less than a minute = 0 credits.
Reach is not meant for those who play to win. The Cr payout proves it.

I play for two things:
Commendations/Credits.
Fun.
Spending every match wiping out the opposite team in Grifball accomplishes both of those means quite well.

Of course, when I get some random douche that betrays me because we're not 'winning', Grifball becomes stupid.
if you want to win, go back to Halo 3, where winning meant all the exp, or none of it.
In Reach you get a whole 50 more Cr for winning, and often I'll get more than the winning team just for my commendation bonus.

Reach =/= winning.

I dont really need to go back to Halo 3 to "Win" when there is a decent grifball playlist here that I can win on and not care about cr or exp^_^

Running backs don't have the most powerful weapon in the match. You can hold them at half court with you with a bomb and 4 of them, enough time to for anyone to come back you up. Anyone who runs to their own back wall, when their entire team is not being pushed back as well, is a coward.

Play the damn game, anyone giving a crap about credits is retarded, being a higher rank doesn't mean you look like a good player, it looks like you have played longer, nothing more. Play good and look like a good player.

Grifball does not take any form of skill. It is just there for people who are 12 like you.

I believe you miss the point.

The point of online play is to kill other people and to have fun.

Once you start replacing that with an immaterial (or possibly material) object like money or credits as a motivation and incentive to win, then you've completely missed the point of why people play online multiplayer in the first place.

The glory of victory is more than any amount of credits could parallel.

Ooh, I love those people, the ones who decide to throw everything and the kitchen sink at you, as if an M16 does anything to a T-90. Oh, MLG player with noobtube instead? Congrats! You blew off one of my ablative plates!

Gun, meet Bad Guy.
Bad Guy, this is Gun.

Because it seems like a better idea to have your team secure a path to the bomb plant rather than rush in, too many times I was betrayed for the bomb only to watch the enemy kill the guy and grab the bomb.

True story. Things like that are just part of Reach.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

I do that every time I get the bomb.

Or, well, I don't really dance or try to annoy anyone, I just stay back, so we'll get a bigger Game Completion.

Nice to see the Queen of subtlety has woken up, Grifball isn't just for 12 year olds, some of us play it because it's fun.

OT to actually win in Grifball you actually need the ball, lots and lots of times I've seen ball carriers just run up to several defenders then lose the ball. Tactics do play a part in this game.

  • 12.05.2011 11:32 AM PDT

I play to win. No other reason to play.

Also for credit whores, a quicker game means you get your slot machine quicker, which is the best source of creditw

Yes it does. If you've ever played it against a full party or in a tournament then it can get competetive. There are so many tactics that only work in grifball and don't work in anything else. And not many playlists take "skill". There's map control and knowledge of where weapons and vehicles spawn. If you control the map then your aim doesn't even need to be that great.

Blame Reach for giving more credits for holding the bomb and spawn trapping then scoring and wining the game.

Oh and this.
