My friend's comp:
1.2ghz processor
128MB RAM
64 MB Nividia Geforce 4 Ti

he can run this game at a constant 30+FPS on medium, 1024x700

My comp:
2.5 celeron(i know) processor
512MB RAM
128MB Nvidia Geforce FX 5200(oh GOD i know)

At bare minimum settings, windowed i can get 30-40FPS. anything more and i get 15-25fps.
Help? I shut down all background programs (non OS), defragged, restarted, and defragged twice again.

I think that is about as good as it will get for ya. I'm just surprised your buddy can get that good of a framerate with his setup.

My old rig AMD 1.2 ghz, 256 mg Geforce 4 Ti, and 768 mb ram ran halo so poorly. I was bored one day so I swapped the Geforce with the Radeon 9550 256 mb cardfrom my new rig, and Halo ran so well I almost forgot I was playing on a 4 year old P.O.S.

ATI and NVidia are the two main competitors in the GPU market, but usually ATI has a slightly better performance compared to a similar NVidia card. besides, ATi's been around for like ever. I still have an old ATI Rage Pro 16 mb card kicking around here somewhere... it's practically a museum piece now...

yea basically anything below the geforce 6600GT is a terrible card, or the 9800pro on the ati side of things.
