I check in The Classifieds quite a bit. Unfortunately, I often get depressed when I do because there are so many great groups that could really take off if they only had a successful ad campaign. So don't worry, I'm here with Sharpace77's tutorial on

HOW TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL AD CAMPAIGN
To help prove that my methods work, I am going to create a new, totally awesome group, you know, for demonstration purposes. That way the community can watch as the fruits of my labor are harvested and know that you too can produce your own.

STEP ONE: Make the group.
Choose an awesome title that will instantly catch unsuspecting victims in your web of awesomeness. For my example group, I chose the title "Sharpace77's Fan Club" because my name is instantly eye catching and who doesn't want to be part of a fan club?

Nothing else matters, just the name.

STEP TWO: Choose a theme.
The theme sets the entire tone for the group. It's got to be awesome or people will run away before your witty remarks and hilarious posts can reel them in. For my example group I chose the 'Legendary' theme, both because the group and I are both legendary and I want everyone to know it.

NOTE: Do not choose a theme that is not true. For example, don't choose the Grunt Birthday Party theme if you don't throw parties. This will mislead members and make them mad and attack you and your other group members.

STEP THREE: Flesh out the FAQs and Articles.
Only legit groups have them. If you have them, you are legit.

STEP FOUR: Post in the classifieds.
This is important. You have to post something awesome. You have to make people want to join your group by giving something back to THEM. Remember, it's not about you or your group, it's about the community.

In my example I made sure to make promises to give back to those who joined. That way you give them incentive and they want to partake in your group. That's the most important part. Also, it's a good idea to provide a link to your group so members can find it. Or else they'll be lost.

STEP FIVE: Add a signature about your group to everything you write. DON'T DO THIS STEP!
People will know you mean business when you have a sig about your group. My example signature is below:

Join Sharpace77 Fan Club and you'll pop double rainbows!

Not only does it catch other member's attention, but it tells them about the group!

STEP SIX: Get someone famous to join.
This is especially important. They act as the eye candy when new members join. They're all like, "Woah! ****'s in here!"

For my example group, I'm the famous person. Hopefully as time goes on, more famous people will join my group. Like Bill Murray.

STEP SEVEN: Don't PM people with group requests.
It makes you look desperate and weak. Like that little runt kitten that can't fight for himself and needs to beg the humans for help. Pathetic.

Follow these simple steps and your group will be awesome in no time, all thanks to this simple ad campaign! If you have any extra ideas to add, post 'em and I'll throw 'em up here in the OP!

NOTE: This has nothing to do with any of the groups linked! This is only for advice for starting your own group! Keep it on topic!

Signature: Creepy old men give out free candy here.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I like that you actually made the group, I don't like that you're advertising it to me.

Haha wow. This is great advice. Priceless.

Advertisements are necessary to build groups, but I would never do it.

Step 8: Make a popular thread using your group as an example.

Pro tip: Link as many times as possible.

I PM recruit often. A great number of active members in the most successful group on the site are a result of PM recruiting. Sorry but no.

I remember when you sent me a PM about your group, I was tempted to join but then I saw that I don't live far from you, so I plan on driving to your house to start our own group.
