how would you like it if everyone from 2004 dismissed you as a moron simply because you were new?

First of all, he is a moron for stating such a thing, and secondly, 2008 is still new.

Huh... never thought of it that way. I think I'll go down to the local VFW hall and tell stories, oh the stories I have.

It was fifteen years ago... *snore*

Personally, I have never put all of my stock into titles or post-counts or reputations or karma. That goes for any online forum. Every opportunity that you take to share your thoughts and opinions with total strangers or old friends is crucial. Your last post says as much about you as your first post.

Certainly, the ability to maintain a posture as a citizen in good standing over time is impressive, but I don't expect fresh members to be of lesser quality overall.

There could be someone who registered for Bungie.net just today who will infuse our conversation with new awesomeness. Being new does not ensure that you will be an idiot. New people are the lifeblood of any great community.

This is nearly 2012. 4 years ago != new.

I've gotta admit though- he has a point.

I mean, I get 4 years is a long time. And maybe I only think this way because I was here before that but... I still have it in my head that post-Halo 3 people are still the new guys. I know I know- it's four years old now, that game. But it's not like it's something deliberate. If someone joined at that point, I think of them as new. Take Hylebos. He's 2007 and he's a good friend of mine. I know he has been here for ages. But I still think of him as part of the newer era. Just like us 2005-2006 are part of the newer era to the 2004 and below folks.

Eh.

You can't say people are new for only being newer of a member than you. If new in your definition is any account younger then your's, why do we call you burritosenior? :D

To be honest, the idea of getting on at people for how long ago they signed up to create an account on a website, makes just about as much sense as getting on at someone for their actual age.

To me, it's entirely about the quality of your person and the experiences you've had in your life that should define you. Similar here. The quality of your posts and the experiences that you bring to the table, or share with other members as a result of your involvement, should be reflected entirely by the way people respond to you, or not respond to you, if that's the case. It's not about age. A new member could sign up here, be seriously and ridiculously groundbreakingly awesome to interact with, and a lot of you would ignore them based entirely on the fact that their title isn't standouty. Granted, I'm guilty of it too, but it's what happens when you spend time in an environment built for thinking that way, in terms of the trust-based titles.

That's why Coup was made originally...rather ironically, considering what it turned into.

I r guy who gun to teach u lesson

I am going to be completely honest with my post.(note not all are like this, its just what I have gathered)

Usually people with titles have the least amount of humor in their posts and tend to put little emotion into what they say.(EX: I find it much more entertaining to discuss something with someone who doesn't worry about their title and puts what they really think into their posts, then someone with a title who has to watch everything they say to protect their title)

Basically I feel people who don't worry about titles have more freedom.

Honesty>Lies/Simplicity(Yes, I will even say brown noising) to keep a title.

Note: This does not mean people with titles can not make funny and/or good quality posts with what they feel. I said there are some, even a lot of, exceptions.

Basically I'm saying the atmosphere would be so much better here without titles.

Sure I can. 6 year olds are young to me. But to Recon Number 54, we're all young. It's a matter of perspective.

I don't see that as a problem. It's not like I treat people any worse. Sure if they say something like, "The community is now declining" or some such nonsense, I might ask why they think that's valid considering how new they are (same could be said of me by an older member, absolutely), but in terms of how I actually treat them? It's all the same.

I can't really help, nor do I see any reason to change, the way I think about things in that regard. All I know is that I do in fact think that way.

And I'm senior because I'm ancient in my thoughts. I just keep those thoughts to myself and only share the ones people might expect of me.

The only reason a lot of Fabled Mythic Members have their title is because they have either been here a long time, or have posted a lot, or a combination of the two.

Spartan Ken's made WAY better threads than this one.

OT: I've seen people that have titles that don't have any prefix or rank, that have made decent threads.

Probable alt is probable.

Anywho, if so, that'd explain my title.
