Subject: How do you feel about the site and how much it has grown?

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

How do you feel about the site and how much it has grown? How do you think the community has grown? From when I first joined in 04 , and came back in 09. I think the site has done some good things, and some bad. I don't know what happened in 08, but I heard and read some articles about the superintendent being on bungie.net. We should have more things like that n bungie.net more like Adjunt. I remeber him before I left.

I think every since bungie has gone dark the community got smaller. The reach forum is not as bad as it formally was. I'm guessing they wen't over to waypoint, if so there lost.

The question to you is, how has bungie.net and the community grown in your opinion. Has it gotten better ,or worse?

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

In my opinion, the community has gotten better ever since Bungie announced their seperation from Microsoft and future Halo games. I can't really explain it, but the community seems to have gotten better in some way.

On the Community Forum, the discussions are few but more fruitful. And the Bungie staff appears to be making a point of be more interactive on the forums. Or since things have slowed considerably, it merely appears they are more active.

I think that's the difference between the Halo fanboys and the Bungie fanboys. Now we know who's who. Better or worse, I couldn't say; I was gone for a year or two, so I can't say about quality, but that's my guess.

Addendum: Since I've been back, I've been here, and not the Halo forum (though I spend a wee bit of time there).

I agree. It's awesome to see all the Bungie employees interacting with the community more.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

I feel Bungie.net is definitely headed in the right direction. Arguably one of the most best communities out there, I believe right now we're all a prime example of a truly successful community. When you have people shelling away their money for the community, you know something has been done right. I mean, I've probably spent a good, solid $30-$50 for you guys alone. Even though my previous effort has turned out dead; I'm still working ahead on some cool and neat things for everyone - and I know I'm not the only one who cares enough about this community to do things like that. It's not a hardship giving, it's apart of the process in contributing to this "e-society."

When I first joined B-net I wasn't the same as I am now; was dumber (many would argue that has yet to change), sillier, terrible at grammar, etc.. This website was different. There were in fact different forums and different discussions, but the only changes I can mainly say is that Bungie.net got the facelift it deserved (thank stosh and the webteam), and the community got bigger. Always for the better.

I remember I came here strictly for halo in 04, So I guess you can call me one of those fan boys, but getting to know everyone in the community and meeting bungie employees bungie isn't as stupid as I said years ago. We all know we still have a few Halo Fan boys here. The only thing I don't like is the site designs.

I'm sure there's a lot of both.

I personally lost me Halo drive right around when I figured out TFoR (book) was trashed by the game. I still also have to read all the books in the last year, but I plan on getting around to that. Maybe I'll re-become an HFB again.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

In my opinion, it has gotten better. I am not going to explain how, cause I don't like explaining. Even though I explained that I don't like explaining. -.-

I think they got rid of some good forum feature, that we could use now, but bungie it self is great. They are actually communicating with there fans now, well more then they formally did.

  • 12.07.2011 10:03 PM PDT

What features?

  • 12.07.2011 10:15 PM PDT

Gamers Anon

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

The community definitely feels closer than it was before like a lot more interaction between members. Maybe it just sorted the Halo fans from the Bungie fans.

Well we can't add images in our post anymore. Our join date isn't under our avatar. This is kind of all I remember for now.

  • 12.07.2011 10:35 PM PDT

Does anyone even read these?

Well you use to be an annoying tard, since then you have been replaced. So it's grown in that way.

  • 12.07.2011 10:53 PM PDT

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I've noticed a decrease in trolling in the forums, and a general increase in maturity. Back in Halo 3's prime there would be at least one "cool story bro" per thread, OP's that were more than one paragraph long would receive a "tl;dr" and people were saying "umadbro" like it was going out of style.

That is true I haven't noticed a cool story bro in a while, but i've seen many rule breakers posting in the community forum about Halo 4, but they just need someone pointing them in the right direction.

BadBall3r47
That's only because me and my brother formally shared a acc and people seemed to not like him. Even though he was annoying I thank him because if he wouldn't have made this acc I wouldn't have came back in'till I heard about aerospace.

Have A Nice Day!

Commander, CammCam's Queensguard; Sapphire Mod; 34th Seat, Table of Avalon(Exiled);Captain, HAND

yolo? -blam!- that! YOLTOSS!! You Only Live Twice or Some -blam!-

I think the community and this site have grown tremendously. It's been cut down to people who want to be here because of Bungie and their anticipations for the future and has since lost a lot of people who just wanted to -blam!- about something they didn't like in Halo(although, if you look at the Reach forum...)

I myself used to not enjoy the community here, and took a year away. When I came back I found that the people I did like are still around and the community is as active as ever even though there is really nothing "new" going on right now. Now, I'm on every day, making new cyber friends to play some Reach games with and even joining silly groups to try to become more involved with what is going on around here. I can't think of a better place to spend my time.

What year did you leave?

  • 12.08.2011 5:30 AM PDT

You may be special but that doesn't mean you're useful

Since joining in 08' I haven't really noticed a difference until recently.

Since Bungie has gone dark and Halo has transferred to 343i the forums seem to have a lot more of a community feel to them. Bungie employees and Ninjas post in threads more frequently which is nice, because it lets us know that they can join a discussion to rather than being the overbearing lords of the manor.

Users are also a lot more recognizable now that the volume of members posting per days has decreased.

Overall, the forums are better now albeit a little quieter.

  • 12.08.2011 5:32 AM PDT

Been pretty quiet now that most of the Halo fanboys have gone to Waypoint, but I think that is for the best. As said by others in this thread, we are seeing a lot more maturity. Looking back at the days of Halo 3, you can easily see that there is a major difference between now and then. This is what the Seventh Column truly is and it's pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Positive vibes.

I can't say I've noticed a change in the site, but I've changed hella since I joined.

  • 12.08.2011 8:09 AM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Is there a sale at the Sunglass Hut on rose-tinted this holiday season? The only thing I've noticed was that Halo fans have moved on leaving a drop in over all posting activity on the forums and a seeming reemergence of older members. The ratio of crap that this forum hasn't changed, it's just less evident with the lack of activity. Other than that I haven't noticed a significant change.
