Subject: PM the Mods! I will no longer trust the mods for reliability

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Well, not really.

Don't ever tell me to message a Mod if they are not going to answer me, when I really do need the answer. Hmph.

I know that they are volunteering, but if they are supposed to be reliable sources, why can't they answer my questions when I need it answered at that time.

I will no longer trust the mods for reliability.

Subject: PM the Mods! Answer to all your site related questions...

They always respond right away to me.

  • 12.07.2011 11:05 PM PDT

It might depend on who you are trying to PM.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

Do you know what would be great? If we compiled a list of members who are willing to answer inane questions about the site, or give advice, via PM. That way, instead of bothering the mods (and possibly not even getting an answer) you could just send a PM to somebody on that list.

Should I bother making a thread for it or is it a horrible idea?

Sounds good, and OP, they will read it.

I'll be an answer guy if you want.

OP: You can never be sure that someone is online. Just give them some time to answer (more than 30 minutes).

Gamers Anon

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Sounds like a good idea to me and I would be willing to help.

That's a very good idea, the moderators and employees can't be online at all times.

Well, not really.

I just messaged two of them and still didn't get a reply.

Time waited: 50min. and counting.

And I am sure I PM'd the ones that are online I made sure of it.

Have you considered how easy it is not to see the new message icon unless you're looking for it? In all likelihood they haven't even realized they have a message.

It's pretty easy to notice. Their eyes probably wander over the icon frequently too, considering they get quite a few PMs.

Just because the mod finder says we are online doesn't mean we are.

I sometimes hop on, make a single post, or reply then hop off for a few hours. Mod finder says I'm here, but I'm really not.

Bout the only thing you can do is wait for replies from us, and it may be a minute, hour, day, week.

Generally I respond to messages when I get some free time to sit down read them, and do research on them, which is sometimes required. Most of the time if its just about bad threads I don't respond though.

I really don't trust the Mod thingy. I just go by most recent posts and then from their I try to be totally sure that the person I am PM'ing (Can I use it that way?) is online. But whatever the case, I just want a response. But it can't be a week later, I would be like, ugh, what is this thing for, and then totally lose interest in it.

So you don't trust the Mod Finder, but you replicate how it functions manually instead?

No. I go to the users page and look at the most recent post they have made, and go by that.

No it isn't. At least, not through the search.

You should try sending more than two PMs if it's something super-dooper important.

So, you are saying that I should PM all the mods?

Really? I have only used it once or twice and assumed that's how it would work.

Evilcam, Qbix, bobcast, and OPR almost always answer. Foman'll usually answer if it's a legitimate question.
