I'm going to say the Spec Ops Leader(please help me with his name

Rtas 'Vadum

I would say him, but he has been fighting for the wrong cause all his life. He is still awesome in every other way though.^_^

Thanks for the name. And yes, I did pick him because I thought he was awesome. More to your point though, most heroes come to fruition after finding they've been fighting for the wrong ideals or that their beliefs are being manipulated. When this happens and they turn their back on what they've grown to know as truth is when you really get see their character/morals.

Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

I can't agree with Rtas being a hero at all. He was first motivated by religous fervour and his species' need for bloodshed, and then he was motivated by the need for revenge. And his species's bloodthirst. Again.

I like him as a character; he's the definitive Sangheili, but he's narcissistic.

P.S. How do you guys pronounce "Rtas"? I say it like "Art-as" but that's really to avoid myself saying "Ratass".

P.P.S The Librarian is the only prominent hero in Halo.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

3)John Forge for sacrificing himself because he knew that Spartans were more needed in war then marines and he saved probably whole the human existence by destroying the shield world and it's forerunner fleed.

The marines on Long Night of Solace should have done the same. What a waste of resources. Honour can get -blam!-. Which one is more valuable? You do the math.

Those army commandos likely died before or during the final firefight in the hanger. Come on, those guys who get torn apart by the Ultras that move in.

I can't agree with Rtas being a hero at all. He was first motivated by religous fervour and his species' need for bloodshed, and then he was motivated by the need for revenge. And his species's bloodthirst. Again.

I'm not sure if that would be his sole motivations. There was seemingly a lot driving him, especially in Halo 3. He does make some choices that show his potential and his motivations.

He seems to despise the Flood, and it is no surprise given that it claimed the life if his best friend but he also understands how dangerous it is. His motivation here is part revenge but also part understanding of how grave of a threat the Flood is. Whilst many others shrug the Flood off as a worthless parasite he treats it more seriously. When fighting the Flood on Infinite Succor, his willingness to sacrifice himself and having to make the choice to sacrifice Bero in order to stop the Flood was probably not done in the name of religious fervour. It was probably done in the name of just simply stopping whatever the heck this thing was, and to make sure it never escaped.

As for fighting against the Brutes/Prophets, this is probably got a lot of revenge for motivation in it. Although it was also to stop them from firing the rings, and although killing Truth and the Brutes for attempting genocide of his people was probably largely driven by revenge I don't think it would really differ all that much from what the UNSC at large were perhaps feeling at this point either: Kill Truth and all his bastard followers for the men and woman lost in the war. Whilst they had an official goal to achieve (Stopping the rings) I would be surprised if some measure of revenge was not also on everyone else's minds at the time. At the time of the Schism, survival of his kind seemed unlikely, and he was one of the ones who rose up to offer leadership to his people. That is not easy thing to do.

I guess it all depends on what you define a Hero to be. That is sort of how I have come to view it. Sort of.

"Art-as". It is supposedly pronounced "Oor-taz" though on a Waypoint video, but -blam!- that lol.
