Yay yuh!!!!!

I hope this is the right forum. But why do people not link their tags?? They say they are better then people but you can not even see their stats or anything. i know stats do not say everything but it is something to get a basic idea for their skill.

When he was younger, he was the one who always had the jokes and riddles that would keep the spirits of the Spartans high. Over the years however, his lifetime of combat had hardened him, as it had all of the Spartans. Within Will, John thought, something special had been lost.

In the thread about titles and prefixes, it suggests that linked accounts get overall better trust ratings than those that don't. The mentality there is that people are more inclined to behave on the account that's associated with their xbox live.
It shows investment.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Maybe they did but they're just hiding it (you can hide your GT). I wouldn't dwell on what they say if they can't/won't back it up anyway.

Why would a person want to hide their GT? What is the point of linking it?

I think this is actually the right forum; but it feels like it belongs in the Reach forum so much.

People don't link their tags because they don't feel like doing it. If they start saying that they're better than you, ignore them. Even if you find a match with them and beat them 50 to 0, they'll still conclude with "I'm better than you", it's pretty common hardcore gamer talk.

Some people would want to hide their GT because they don't have good stats. I hide my GT because I don't enjoy random friend requests or messages. As for the purpose in linking a GT, people enjoy being able to see their stats... even if they're bad. There's a lot more reasons as to why you would hide or link your GT. I just wanted to give you some examples.

The answer to this as far as B.net goes, has already been answered. As far as hiding it thereafter, it's obvious. People, especially recognized members of this community, like mods, don't want to deal with random friend requests and spam from people they don't even know.

Some people's (including mine) are not linked, because the WLID that the GT is linked to is different to the WLID their account here uses, and you are unable to change the WLID that a Bungie account is linked to (as far as I know). There are also various other reasons, such as not wanting to receive too many friends requests from random people (which could well happen for exceedingly well known members, in particular Forum Ninjas).
