Subject: Longest Dark Days of Bungie?

Is this the longest period that Bungie has been dark? I remember a couple years back they went dark but not for this long I don't believe. Thoughts?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I say probably yes.

Bungie at least had an active game they owned every time they went "dark".

Like for Halo 3 ODST, we could still talk about halo and Bungie made updates.

When he was younger, he was the one who always had the jokes and riddles that would keep the spirits of the Spartans high. Over the years however, his lifetime of combat had hardened him, as it had all of the Spartans. Within Will, John thought, something special had been lost.

[EDIT: ^Ken^ beats me to the punch]

Can't speak from experience, but things are getting pretty dried up around here. This is probably the first time that they've had no current running project, with Halo being appropriated and all.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I wouldn't know. I have never been around to know of them previously going dark. But if anything, the anticipation is killing me! :P

I wouldn't say Bungie has gone "dark" before. We've always know what they were making.

When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

It certainly feels like it.

After Halo 2. They didn't say anything for basically ever.

It was like this from Halo to Halo 2. Halo 2 to Halo 3. The difference being that we know that there will not be another Halo title by Bungie. So, we have to wait longer and in more darkness for something new and exciting.

All is well.

This is the first time I've seen them "go dark" at all. Ever since I've been here they've informed us on what is in development to some degree, weather that would be a new game or DLC for an already released game.

True, but I believe that the OP means dark as in our current state of Bungie not doing anything. I don't think that Bungie has went dark this long ever since the transition from Halo 2 to Halo 3, but I could be wrong.

Halo 2 to Halo 3 was what... a 3-year break? I'm pretty sure Halo: Reach has been out for a little over a year now. Not that long compared to the other Halo's.

The Risk Is Worth The Reward.
Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

Hopefully they will fill us in on something soon.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

If I make a topic everyday about Bungie being too active for too long, will people start believing that too?

  • 12.08.2011 8:14 PM PDT

I think so. I'm sure something is in store for us though.
