Subject: What type of threads are most successful?

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

The title speaks for itself. We all know some threads will get hundreds of replies while others will get one or two. Thus the question must be posed: What type of threads have you observed to be most popular and successful?

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

Ones that ask for opinion instead of a definite answer and stir debate over the subject.

  • 12.08.2011 4:34 PM PDT

1. The ones made by Ninjas.
2. The ones made by Employees.
3. The controversial ones.
4. The ones that tell people how to do things.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

The most popular and successful threads depend on if it's about anything important, if the people responding can post about themselves, and/or if anyone popular posts in it.

Controvercial topics definitely help, though the thread does not neccessarily need to be trollish in nature to attract hundreds of replys.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Stupid ones. I'm not pulling any punches today. The most "successful" topics are usually about things that I think are immensely stupid. The litmus test then, is what I think of the topic. If I think its good, it has almost no chance of getting more than one page. If I think the topic and all involved are kinda worthless, then it will have 10 pages.

Anecdotes are true when I make them.

  • 12.08.2011 4:43 PM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yep, it is the golden formula. It also has to do with wording.

This is more true than any of you know. I can link tons of the pointless threads I have created that have been popular.

Worst part is when an employee posts in these stupid threads and it's like the Big Bang all over again.
