To all this may concern,

I'm ditching this thread ya'll. You guys just won't shut up while clutching at straws. Thank you for everybody else who stuck to the title, even when I didn't.

Farewell.

Edit: Nice alt, Grey.

Just a heads up, you are making this whole thing a big deal so I am treating it as such.

My question is why are we still dwelling on this? We know what was misinterpreted and what was actually meant. Why can't we all forgive and forget.

Becuase every time Big Rig leaves, he always leaves one last blame on grey.

I can forgive this whole thing though because the OP did have good intentions.

EDIT: Lolz @ me. Big Rig. Herp. I mean Rigz boi.

The OP's only acknowledgement of that is that "People are just too sensitive". Hardly burying the hatchet so to speak.

After he had said he was sorry for any misinterpretations. But whatever, I'm not inclined to get into one of these arguements, so can we just leave it as it is?

On another note, I find Ackerson a little annoying.

Second he leaves, *Flood in all directions*

Tartarus. Arbiter even tried to reason with him, and got direct conformation from Spark that the Halo's were only weapons of mass destruction. And what does he do? Activates the Halo.

Wasn't to fond of him killing his uncle either. His uncle was probably one of the smartest and most reasonable Brutes we'll ever see.

Imagine all that would have been averted if his uncle survived and killed Tartarus. Upon hearing the truth straight from an "oracle" he may have even turned the brutes against the prophets aswell. His uncle was even weary of fighting the humans in the first place, and upon learning that humans are the innocent victems, I doubt that he, or the Elites would have gone on to kill the humans.

But then again, that would be VERY VERY bad. If the Brutes killed the prophets, then nobody would have gone to the Ark, except for the Gravemind. A Gravemind free to rule outside the range of Halos is a very, very, VERY bad thing. ESPECIALLY because he would have had the time to fully break-down Cortana, and use all her information to his own evil purposes.

And a royal dick. I mean, Traviss should've given him some harsher words than Halsey.

Miranda Keyes needed a couple punches to the throat. I felt no remorse when she died.

Especially, you'd think, the Elite you thought dead basically comes back from the grave and doesn't want revenge, and only tries to give you a chance for your mistakes, and you continue anyway.

Do'h.

You not read Uprising? Sure, he did some bad things but at the very end redeemed himself immeasurably.

He's, as Parangosky said, a hero. Halsey is too, but when all's said and done she's alive; that means she can be a scapegoat.

  • 12.13.2011 12:04 AM PDT

Didn't he also end up murdering a goodly number of people just to try to protect his brother, who then also died anyway?

In the end, I'd rather a few Halsey's over Ackerson. He purposefully tried murdering Chief during a training/testing exercise, bashed Halsey and the Spartans openly despite their war changing efforts, and gave not a -blam!- about what happened to his Spartan III's.

Been a while since I read it; if I remember right the Covenant were going to glass a city he grew up in, so he spun them a story about a Forerunner artifact to buy the UNSC time. He also took out a whole ship and one of their prominent San 'Shyuum leaders, sacrificing himself in the process.

All this after resisting brutal torture by the Jiralhanae, too.

  • 12.13.2011 12:22 AM PDT

What I remember is they evacuated the city but people died. Ackerson was killed by the brutes, and his brother surrendered after being planted with a tracking chip, which allowed the SMAC stations to destroy the ship.

  • 12.13.2011 12:32 AM PDT

That was it, yeah.

Still, if it hadn't been for Ackerson they'd have just glassed the city outright and everyone would have died; the fleet/ship also wasted a lot of time searching for the key, which kept them from actively participating in the invasion.

But I'm reluctant to get deep into this because it's been nearly two years since I last read it.
