It will be removed at the appropriate time.

no issue, the point of my thread is whether people agree that the 'BUNGiE is no longer managing the Halo Universe' message should be removed a year after it was put up

A year would probably be a good cutoff.

When he was younger, he was the one who always had the jokes and riddles that would keep the spirits of the Spartans high. Over the years however, his lifetime of combat had hardened him, as it had all of the Spartans. Within Will, John thought, something special had been lost.

Uh, lots of this is false.

1. 343i was originally a group in Microsoft called the "Halo Franchise Development Group". They were responsible for managing lots of non-game stuff (toys, books, etc.). Bungie was of course involved, but we focused on the games.
2. As Bungie became independent, Microsoft decided to greatly expand this group into a full fledged studio, devoted to continuing Halo, and filling with talented people who want to make more Halo.
3. Reports of Bungie people moving to 343i are greatly exaggerated - we have an very high retention rate.
4. Reports of hostility over the transition are false. They're a very talented group of people, and we look forward to experiencing the future of Halo as fans. Don't create drama where none exists.
5. The date of the cutover was August 2nd, IIRC.

[[EDIT: per ^above^ post] It could have been August, sometime late summer at any rate]

Pretty sure it was last July. Bungie Day was kind of a send-off so it happened sometime after that. Also 343i formed with the expressed purpose of continuing Halo despite Bungie and the dignity of the series. The few employees they have from the original team hardly comprise the heart and soul of it. Even Jason Jones one of the founders of Bungie has implied some serious hostility over the whole thing.

Thanks for clearing that up.
I realize that I'm likely projecting my feelings on the matter of what M$ is doing with Halo, but I feel like the implications I think I'm picking up on aren't unfounded.

As far as my point, it wasn't over people leaving or going against, it was tensions between Microsoft and the studio that inevitably ended in the split. Whether 343 existed as something else prior has nothing to do with that point.

Talking to a publisher a couple months ago, and they asked what I.. what I wanted. Like, I just want them to get out of our way, and let us.. let us make a game.
Trust that we're going to do something great, give us the money to pay for it... and then get out of our way.

I have a saying here in the Ivory Tower that many people have heard over many years. It's this: "Be Nice to the Goose".

The story goes that there once was a goose that laid golden eggs. The owner of the goose got greedy and cut it open looking for more golden eggs but alas only killed the goose.

Having a goose that lays golden eggs is a special thing. However, don't make the mistake of being nice to the eggs and expecting more gold. Be nice to the goose. Then you might get more golden eggs.

End of story.

These are the only concrete things I can cite to prove that I'm not just creating drama where there is none. Maybe I'm reading in between the lines, or the inflection in his voice as it fades out, but it's no doubt in my mind that continuing Halo wasn't something Bungie wanted and that it wasn't something that you guys wanted for your "baby". As a fan of Halo, I really hate to see what's been done to it and what's going to continue to be done to it. It's just a cash cow to Microsoft whether the people working on it see it that way or not.

Bungie = class in my mind. It's one of the reasons I like you guys so much.

When people start reading it is when it won't be needed.

Problem is people will always need it because they'll never read it.
