Subject: Explain why You Hate Bloom.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Turns the game into a coin flip to go alongside armor abilities turning it into rocks-paper-scissors.

Because randomness should never be programmed into anything. Playing with bloom is like rolling dice, it's totally random and has no skill with it.

But rolling dice is a skill...
Shirley, you can't be serious?

Let's make this clear...

The ACT of ROLLING THE DICE does take some minuscule amount of cognitive function and muscle ability which can be argued represents "skill."

That being said, the OUTCOME resulting from that "skill" DOES NOT have any correlation to said "skill."

The "skill" one exhibits "rolling dice" ENDS once the dice have been rolled. The sum of the dice are influenced in NO WAY by your initial "skillful" input. Otherwise, one would be able to predict and accurately roll the same sum of the dice over and over again. This we know is impossible because the rolling of dice is a random event.

No matter how "skillfully" you roll the dice the outcome will always be random.

This guy... Just destroyed every aspect of this stupid thread. There is nothing you can say against this post. It is completely true. Thanks no weakness.

Do you really think I want to say something against it?

He explained the very point of that post for me. Without realizing it.

Thanks indeed.

to those that go with realism.. please..stop. you are just casual gamers.

One fatal flaw.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

For crying out loud, you're still at it?

Seriously, you haven't done anything except posit a ridiculously unfounded theory of "realism is more skillful". This is just stupid on so many levels.

Quite tellingly, too, you're seriously bad at Halo. Actually, no, I'm bad at Halo. You're something far beyond that. Surely you must have some sort of neurological disease?

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I have already debunked the realism idea.

I feel I need to now make a thread proclaiming to the world that bloom was NOT in previous Halo games. It was on automatic weapons (where it doesn't matter) and the other weapons had a spread, which is not the same as bloom.

I don't know where people are getting the "The BR had bloom!"
BS from.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Wait, people are arguing for realism? lolwut?

This is Halo we're talking about, right?

I've told why realism is more skillful many pages back. Try to debunk it yourself, if you can.

As for the Bloom being realistic, I've already decided for myself that it wasn't ages ago. In this very thread, no less.

Have you ever fired a real weapon in your entire life? If so, what was it?

It's not on autos, either. Not on the Halo 3 SMG, at least.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

I wonder how people can argue for realism when this series has Alien invasions. Shields. Ancient aliens. Space zombies. plasma weapons. Warp speed.

I guess we should just cut all of that stuff out and make Halo another cookie cutter shooter.

Does a BB gun count?

I'm not arguing for realistic guns. If a game wants realistic guns (or not) then go on with it, it's not important to me. I'm talking about generalized realism. You know, the kind you have to train for. I find that it's good to give more to train for.

You should see some of the suggestions on the Halo 4 Waypoint forums. Some of them are flat out depressing.

Test it again. The rounds do not come out in a straight line - they weapon becomes more inaccurate the more the user holds down the trigger. That is bloom.

I know that. I'm saying I didn't see a change in accuracy. I saw a set bullet spread.

Yes, the rounds spread out. But in this kind of discussion, the term "spread" is used to identify a weapon mechanic that the Halo 3 Battle Rifle had. Spread is where one or two rounds go to random locations, regardless of what rate of fire was being utilized by the user.

Precisely.

Now, maybe I'm seeing this because I'm shooting at 2 bullets a burst when I test (rate-of-fire being too fast for just 1), and when I do that, it looks like spread instead of Bloom. I don't think it's Bloom.

Because you aren't going to see bloom in action when you are burst-firing two rounds at a time. Fire fully-automatic and you will see bloom.
