ok so I was watching black hawk down in history class, and I was thinking of doing a mod for halo pc, with just some scenes from the movie, or something. i was wondering what I can get to prepare for it. I know there are some maps I can get that are urban for CE, but I was wondering what else I can do, for vehicles, etc. Once I can get it set up, I'll go to classifieds for the actors.

*Warning! Off Topic Rant Below!*

What's the military's obsession with acronyms? Example: IED (Improvised Explosive Device) I mean c'mon! the rest of the world just calls it a BOMB!!

*End Off Topic Rant, Please Return Your Chairs To The Upright And Locked Position*

Anyways, Are you talking about a single player map? Or a Multiplayer scenario? Since you'd probably need to be very skilled in not only 3DSMax as TMH has stated, But you probably need some experience with scripting as well.

well, the soldiers need to quickly talk/"type" in the middle of combat, or if youre working on front of a computer, while your buddies are in combat, you have to communicate/send messages pretty fast. who wants to say "Quick, bring in more ammunitions of the M16 rifle as soon as possible, Liutenant Harold George Greenfields!" its pretty godamn long, so soldiers say them in acronyms and "military slang". ex: "Quick, bring in M16 ammunitions ASAP, Lt. Green”

you get what im saying dude?

you mean acromyms like:
APC, LCP, LCT, LST, SNAFU, GPMG, SMG, RPG, LMG, BAR, RADAR, HE, AM-APFSDS, LAAG, LAAV, MBT, AP-T, HV, LRV, UNSCDF, ASW, AT, AA, AR, AP, BB, DD, DE, DDE, CV, FFG, CB, CA, CL, SS, USS, HMS, AK47, SAM, SSM, AAM, USMC, ODST, ONI, and UNSC?

probably to shorten requests and orders, and to differentiate themselves from the "rest of the world." everyone likes to be different, and the military is no exception.

omg, you people just dont get it dont you? the military doesnt do it to "differentiate" themselves from the real world, they do it to say their orders and commands quicker, i mean who wants to say "as soon as possible" or "for your information, General Eisenhower...", etc. etc. in the middle of a bloody fire-fight???

just so you know, the men in the military are humans too, dont think theyre trying to be different from us, i should know, cuz my dads in the army

Using acronyms such as those is simple abbreviation. Who wants to waste time and breath to say more syllables than you need to when time is not on your side?

the last part of my post was a bit of a joke... that didn't do so well.

don't worry, i'm not bashing the military. both of my grandpas served in ww2, and one of my friends is going into iraq.
