Well stated. The groups I have joined are due to my interest being peeked through discussions on B net ; the "waaaambluance"
being an example. However, if not discussed and there is no readily available tool to access the Groups in a user-friendly manner, I can see how this can contribute to their demise.

I can only guess why they do things they way they do now. I've always seen a lot of these groups as sort of exclusive fanclubs. Though counter to a group'ss long time activity, it often just requires you to be involved around here. If the group is relevant to your interactions here it's possible that you've already stumbled across it or been invited or were there at it's inception. Kind of goes along with why many are "membership requires approval". Groups are cliques of members most often.
It also explains why so many groups go dormant or just die. When the few involved start waning there are no new members joining, there is no new input, and the people involved find less and less reason to be involved.
Being able to find groups that interest you in a complete list would be great. I'm just not sure that's the way things work around here.

Thank you. We'll call it "The IRISH Group Search for Dummies".

That's not a bad idea. Kind of a phone book type listing for private groups.Well how about we make a group who's sole purpose is to find and list all of the existing groups. Maybe even better yet, news from each of the groups could comprise the threads. Group founders would be allowed to post new threads. And keep the clutter from members down to a minimum, by having a single monitored off-topic thread.
:/ This is really starting to sound like everything the classifieds should be.
We can call the group "The Yellow Pages"
