Subject: When should the halo 3 server turn off?

As we all know halo 3 is a legendary game that has one of the best multiplayer systems in the world. but as less people are online originally from 100000 each day, last year to only 20000, which will drop to routhly 13000 in 2012. what will bungie do if numbers reach below 10000? Halo has been there most sucessful franchise from the first-day sales of Halo 3 reached $170 million in the U.S., setting a record for highest gross of an entertainment product within 24 hours of its release. its name is huge and shutting the servers is a big part of the game as the multiplayer has brang countless hours of fun. this post i wanted to raise awarness about the matter and wanted to get the answer of when...(feel free to discuss the topic)

Bungie won't do anything. Because they have no control over anything Halo.

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

I think it will be near september 2012 as the game was realsed on the september 2007, so i think it will be the anniversary of the game. so 5 years then goodbye what a good way to end it ay? :)

i think you got a good shout about the server thing, but i think it will last a good 2 years untill we say cya halo 3

Considering that Cod2 has its server up and also the only reason why halo 2 was shut down as it was that it wasnt a 360 game it was a orignal xbox game so long live halo, shame the numbers are going down over the years. but its true as it takes so long to get a game and you cant find a game in swat anymore :(

A few years after the new Xbox comes out.

The servers will probably only be shut down after a new Xbox Live is introduced and cannot be supported anymore. Like what happened with all of the Xbox Original games, take Halo 2 for example.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

The servers won't be shut down for a while yet. There are plenty of old games with online servers still running.

Well... no. Though I hate to say it, he is right for once.

The 'Halo 3 Servers' aren't going anywhere. The 'rumors' are started by asshats trying to worry gullible people. THAT is a fact.

Maybe 343 Industries will realize that Halo 3 still has some life in it and will do something (like double EXP weekends) to bring alot of the players back. Better doubt it though. When was the last time that a company actually cared about an older product and didn't put it on the shelf (please don't say Classic Disney Movies)? They will probably only do something if it can make them some more $$$.
