Subject: This has bothered me for quite some time..

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

What is it? Bungie is singular is it not?

I am refering to Bungie as a Company.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Bungie is singular, as it is the name of a corporation. All corporations are singular: you'd never say "Apple are," "Microsoft are," or "Ubisoft are," would you?

I mostly say, "Bungie is."

The reason for that is because Bungie, as a whole, is singular.

To avaoid confusion, here is my points. I see a lot of people say Bungie are working on their next project. Heck, I even saw Recon do that.

Quite correctly, it is said singularly. But when breaking a larger entity up into smaller pieces, the pieces ar referred to plurally.

Bungie is...

Bungie's employees are...

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Exactly.
I was going to post earlier the same thing.(Bungie are=bungie as devs, Bungie is=bungie as a studio)

I'm certifiable.

Not that this should be mistaken as official in any way or anything...

I tend to use "Bungie is" when I'm talking about the company. When talking about the people in the company, though, sometimes that comes out as "Bungie are"... because there's an implicit "guys" in there, and it should read "Bungie [guys] are". Sheer sloppiness on my part.

"Bungie" is (grammatically) a single entity. Therefore, under the rule of subject-verb agreement, the verb "is" must be used. However, as Steve stated, when referring to a plural aspect of Bungie, such as its games or its employees, the verb "are" is used, because "Bungie" is an adjective modifying the plural noun. The following is an example of two correct sentences.

"Bungie is the producer of the very enthralling games."
"The Bungie games are very enthralling.

I agree. He just wants to be friends. Nevermind the little laser pointer thingie coming out of his eye. Or the power-tools where his arm should be. It's just some new Australian fashion.

Yep, Strong Badia. With its tire leaning against a fence, and cut-out of a bear holding a shark.

Bungie is singular and plural. It is the Alpha and the Omega. It is chocolate, and vanilla. It is everywhere, yet nowhere.
