Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

If you become a moderator, wouldn't that basically mean no more webcam MVPs?
Posted by: SonicJohn
Omg! That is right! We can't have that, unless bungie is going to hold some more stuff like that...

I'm not the only MVP signing in around here :)

And regarding the Webcam Games themselves, I would doubt that we'd see the same thing happen again, but it would be great if the webcams were linked back up on the dropdown and used for something. That level of interaction was very cool and unique of Bungie. Maybe DeeJ could see about doing a lil somsin' somsin'. It's been 4 years since I gained this title, back in the summer of '07, so it would be fantastic to see a successor trend. Avatars or titles; either would be great for the community.

Although as a word of caution (and to use the term lightly) the recognition brought upon by having something so unique on here can be tiresome after a while; I still get the odd PM or two about my title. I started by replying proudly with on-the-spot explanations, then the frequency of the PMs started getting silly so I created a copypasta message to send, then I made a Bungie Wiki page for it, linked it in my signature and have had significantly less attention about it. Now I've simply come to terms with any straggler messages about it and just tell folk to read my sig.

So the moral of the story is: if you want to stand out on this site with anything, be it a custom title, the best trust-rating title, Moderator powers, a custom avatar, whatever, then you should be willing to deal with the consequences of that recognition and responsibility. If you have something unique, it means that in some way, shape or form, Bungie has entrusted you with it, so being responsible and respectful regarding it is of utmost importance. To me, anyway. I think it shaped a lot about how I viewed these sorts of privileges a long time ago.

And if I were to ever lose the custom title, it would be for good reason, whatever it may be. As I've said, I wouldn't turn down the position of Moderator; given my current life circumstances (pretty comfortable and stable, yo) I'm confident I would be able to manage the responsibility. That obviously doesn't mean that I'd either ever be approached, nor that anyone else would ask it of me. I may have stated I wouldn't be able to a couple years previously, but 'twas tougher times then in my personal life, plus I was still really childish.

I just like posting my thoughts on stuff, speculating on Bungie's future and helping people out with their questions and problems. If that specifically makes me Moderator material, then I think you could probably just pick a username out of a hat and have it hit the mark just as well. My fancy hat shouldn't give me anymore merit than anyone else for the role.

Just felt I should say my piece on the matter.

But, enough about me (because seriously, I'm not that kewl). There are loads better candidates for it, and probably many of them that you're unaware of, lurking away in groups and being generally level-headed folk. These threads really are just popularity contests, and it's prone to claiming verbose victims like myself :'(

Sidenote: I don't like the severe level of dislike that gets sent around towards individuals on these forums, especially from the comfort of private groups intended for those with supposed high-trust ratings. Obviously nothing to do about it, but it does frustrate me to see the same horse getting kicked about and passed around.

Though I do like the Butters analogy.

tl;dr Meh.

Yeah, but they aren't nearly as active.

I agree (that we should have more fun events with rewards, as long as the event are very open to the public), I have high hopes for DeeJ, but I think we shouldn't burden him with similar hopes.

Hmm... could you give me a estimate of how much recognition you get in a day? (In the form of message #) I'm just curious.

Aren't we all really childish when we start posting on the B.net?

Yeah, that's why I come to the B.net as well.

Note on your side-note: I agree.

Like I said in a earlier post, the subject is a lot less light then how it's talked about in these types of topics. Of course like someone said "turning them into popularity contests", and I don't like popularity contests, they seem to bring out the "id" in people. Then again, I might not like them because I always loose. :D

The Joyeuse IP Formula

wats a webcam mvp? Do you work at Bungie maintaining the webcams? If so, you're fired.

Anyways, I think the only person that the community kept asking for (or nominating, you could say) that actually became a mod was Duardo. I'm not saying that it's a good or bad thing, but he did shave his beard, and I'm very disappointed.
Posted by: SonicJohn
I'm not being modest, I'm being honest. I've been pegged as "Mod-material" since 2007, or something. Post-quantity and generally standoutishness usually doesn't a Mod make. I've on and off wanted to be in the position (helping the community doesn't seem like it would necessarily be a bad thing), but I recognize the reasons why I likely won't be approached, so I'm not really bothered these days :)

Besides, it's not like they're in great requirement in these dark days.
Posted by: ctjl96
Meh; pick one: Webcam MVP or Forum Ninja? You're going to get it anyway, there's no point in being modest.
Posted by: SonicJohn
I think popular choices usually tend to be the least likely/suitable candidates, same for a lot of folk who want to be in the position.

But, since you're asking, jmh9072 and Cryptic would be great at it.
