yolo? -blam!- that! YOLTOSS!! You Only Live Twice or Some -blam!-
You bring up a very good point. We know SJ and Cortana from the quality of their posts and I personally would hate to lose that. A good example of this happening to a mod would be Foman. We'll never again see a quality post from him about how to stick a toy helmet on a cat. It's a damn shame.

The problem with the question for me is that everyone I can think of as being moderator material, I really value as a poster. When a person becomes a moderator, it can affect their posting.
While it's nominally true that moderators still post normally, it can't be ignored that some impressionable users will get it into their head that they can "win all the points" if they impress the mods, and thus one sees a high number of forced responses to moderator created threads and posts.
For a more specific example, Cortana and SonicJohn are often brought up as being excellent Moderator material. While there is little doubt in my mind that this is the case, I can't help but think that it might get in the way of their speculative threads. It would make it go from "hey look! a story/bungie universe thread" to "hey look! a moderator thread!"
Just thought I'd like to bring it up.
