We'll never again see a quality post from him about how to stick a toy helmet on a cat. It's a damn shame.

Don't get me wrong. I think Foman acting as mod has been a positive thing for the community. I guess the gist of this post is to say "being a moderator isn't all fine booze and silk sheets." Thus, if one really cares about a user, one should think for a second before saying "this person should totally be a moderator."

I totally get what you're saying and I agree. Threw the humor about Foman in as facetious rhetoric. I imagine it does take the fun out of being a normal member here. I think it was Revan who said he stopped looking for posts that were interesting and started looking for the posts that broke rules. Who here actually wants that? I imagine it becomes a tedious job, which should prove the point to people that the members who accept these positions are dedicated to this community.

No, acnboy. Spartain Ken 15 is a lesser being. Much like the bacteria that lives in your shit.

My shit bacteria takes offense to that comparison.

Don't make me lel. You won't like me when I lel.

We need Shishka back so half the people in this thread would already be banned.

It's funny that whenever this topic pops up, the people who I personally think might be good are never mentioned. Maybe it's a matter of perspective...

And no, don't bother asking.

You are so right.....no one mentioned me yet.
Or me...

Not really surprised. I have had enough community involvement to consider, but not over the years. I have been here for about 3 years now and have always visited the forums, but never really posted until last year. Your story is similair to mine.
I try to be 100% involved with the community.

Similar, maybe we are the same person. xD

Pretty much, I just want the old times back.

On another note, I'm frightened by some of the choices other people have posted, quite a few correlate with the people I would put on my veto list.

You know what would be the perfect moderator combo?

Halo 53 and Yashie.

Yashie because he's such a lax bro.

And Halo 53 because he's like the drunken stepfather we never had.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Age =/= qualifications to be a moderator.

But I would imagine that being active on the forums and knowing everyone helps.

I can say without a doubt that it will NOT go over well. Many users here would abuse that power for personal reasons.

What Apoc is asking for is impossible to abuse since you only affect your own experience.

He said "self-moderate our experience". In other words, it wouldn't affect anyone else.

I like the idea in theory, but that really wouldn't be practical. A lot of the point of the moderation is to keep everyone at a minimal exposure to rule breakages for their own safety and benefit.

So let's say we have little Timmy here on the site with his own toolkit of self-moderation which he can use to hide content he comes across that he doesn't like. He clicks on a shock-site link. Oh noes the horrors. And now little Timmy is scarred for life. I guess he should have known to hide that link before he clicked on it! But now he can remove it and all is well.

See the fundamental flaw with that idea? It's not even about the control/powers, it's about the exposure. The system Apoc's suggesting would be better suited as a Reddit-type interface, where you can arrange threads and posts based on what you want or don't want to see. It's more reactive than it is preventive, though, so that's the core issue with it. Better to send a few brave souls into the mix to deal with the horror than to get all the little Timmys in the world to deal with it for themselves.

Edit: Dang it, Papa. I guess that's karma ;)

You mean like hiding people's posts and censoring people?

I am 100% against that, it is kind of wrong. Sure it is good against the shock site trolls but when you hide other people, you hide their threads, their posts, etc.

It can make the forums very, isolated.

Like lets say many people censor my posts, no one responds to my thread, or to the point I can;t contribute to a discussion.

I won't want to come back and I would hate these forums.

And, I know come users *COUGH, would do that in spite.
