Subject: Reporting options?

Quit -blam!- stalking me you weirdo.

Who thinks this would be a good idea? Alot of posts get blocked because of an unpopular opinion, and I think there should be measures to prevent this.

I think whenever you report, a dialogue box comes up, with bubbled options. There should also be no "Other" option. This would be a good idea too. I also think if shock sites get removed, that the link should be removed too, or put in a hyper link, as opposed to named hyperlink.

Thoughts on this?

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

It would take too long to report meatspinners.

Did you or someone else make a topic exactly like this?

Reports are fine as is, I have no idea why you want a select why your reporting this person string attached. No matter how you put it, the post gets hidden and a moderator will come to do further damage.

>Click report
>Click Shock Site

I think that would be pretty simple, and not consume alot of time.

  • 12.11.2011 11:24 AM PDT

It wouldn't be that bad.

Also, NOOO AVATAR CHANGE. Everyone is changing it and it's weird. -_-

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I don't see why it needs to be made more complicated.

OT: Yeah, this might not be bad. I don't know if it'll get implemented or not, though. I wish we could have some news on the New New (New?) Hawtness.

I don't see why it needs to be made more complicated.

Because it would discourage reporting someone for their opinion.

For Example:

Person on the Flood posts thread about Skyrim, and criticizes it. Then gets reported for no good reason, because of abuse.

I think "report" works just fine, especially when the right mod is around ;)

People that abuse the report button are banned. Besides if the moderator gets to it and doesn't think it's bad then they don't ban the person.

If that's the case then they got reported for a very good reason, obviously their opinion is wrong.

OT: If someone really wants to be an asshat they'll report it anyway, this just makes it more complicated for people who use it appropriately. Besides, one or two false reports don't amount to much, it won't even show up in the queue.

We already have a system that bans people for report abuse.

  • gamertag: [none]
  • user homepage:

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

I don't see how this feature would make the system any better.

You could report something "just because", but it wouldn't do anything because if there we say, options, and people chose alot of different ones, it wouldn't do anything.

  • 12.11.2011 11:42 AM PDT

Yes, but it rarely happens. I've seen plenty of threads that had this happen to them for no reason and no action was taken (I don't think).

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but shouldn't we be thinking of ways to encourage users just to even use it, more often and properly before trying to come up with ways to discourage them from using it abusively?

I agree. 100%

This would just be an irritant, and the 'problem' it is trying to solve isn't nearly worth the effort. "Oh it's only an extra click!" Yeah well, I don't want to have to hit that extra click every single time.

  • 12.11.2011 11:47 AM PDT

...Make it optional. Bam. Problem solved.

You do realize that defeats the entire purpose of the idea then, right?
