Subject: Your favorite Halo 3 Moment?

A play, a time, an experience in the lobby, a map release, a tournament, a challenge, anything...

What was your favorite Moment in Halo 3?

I would definitely say the 1st Sarkathlon was great fun. Trying for that Recon, trying to be the best... definitely a great memory. How 'bout you?

Winner of the 2012 Lurker of the Year award.

I'm watching you.

Bungie Day 2010. We played a ton of games involving the use of the Bungie chest-piece and camo.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

So many...

When Thel killed Truth and ended the Human-Covenant war, my first online experience, staying up until the early hours of the morning playing customs with friends (Kamikaze, Ghostbusters, Cops 'n' Robbers etc), finishing doing Vidmaster Annual, Bungie Day 2010 going around with Recon and the flaming helmet being asked if I "am a Bungie".

It's a shame to see those halcyon days gone forever, Reach just doesn't have the same spirit of Halo 3.

Probably my first scarab battle. Took me about 20 minutes to figure out what to do.

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

wathing a brute get crushed by the scarabs leg as it was charging up to me
Sticking a brute in the ass with a spike grenade
all those fun team slayer games on high ground
king if the hill in the pit
Slayer on gaurdian, ghost town and anvil

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Oh my goodness.....so many to pick from!
My first online experience was pretty awesome, finishing the campaign, getting a kill with the cone, my first true out-BR, every time I hit a skill milestone, screaming into a headset at the top of my lungs and winning 50-49..........etc.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

My pownage spree on SWAT. I spent a whole night kicking everyones asses and getting the most amount of kills in every match.

Sadly, SWAT playlist has since died :(

Plus, in one match i was second behind a 5 star General

I've done the Annual achievement 3 times, once for myself and twice for others....I can't believe people find it annoying, I have a blast everytime, four player co-op on the last level is hilarious.

Oh and me and my friend have spent copious amounts of hours replaying Halo 3 levels. We still regularly load up "Crows Nest" at Rally Point Alpha so that we can glitch Sgt. Johnson into the first Brute room, just so we can watch Johnson attempt to fight off a Brute Chieftain.

Playing custom games with friends. 28 Days Later on Sandtrap was the best. n1njahobo knows what I'm talking about.

Too many to count:

My first H3 miracle, my first H3 preternatural encounter, my first mission as an AI army commander, my first encounter of Flood ghost possession.

And the only one that I haven't documented yet (although I did release a video a long time ago):

Flying Brute Chieftains on The Covenant, on both bridges before reaching the activation panel, leaping off the ground and flying from one end of a bridge to the other. One time colliding with a wall (and dying from the impact) and getting swarmed by Infection Forms, Heroic difficulty. He jumped right after throwing a spike grenade. The other time was when he was pursuing Arbiter at the third bridge when Arby disappeared and teleported to the activation panel. He jumped all the -blam!- way to Arbiter, landing into a group of 4 Arbys and they eventually killed him. I got a checkpoint when I reached the 3rd bridge so I could have reproduced it countless times. If only I still had that game save... damn M$.

Here's the locations. The event is still very clear to me. I'm not making this stuff up. I'm pretty certain this has the potential to become a well known (and very fun) glitch.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Getting the Endure achievement for the first time a few years ago... those were the days. Right after that I won 10 straight games of Doubles...

"memories.."

ooga booga boooh

Just searching Squad Battle and BTB with my friends. Both real life friends, where we'd just go for some mongoose splatters, and the more competitive games. Even when we couldn't find games in Squad, just the stuff we'd talk about was always fun.

OMG, yes! Where did these times go?

Running Standoff with the WP.
Too many MM highlights (and lowlights) too remember.

Beating the campaign of Legendary solo. That was the first time I really pushed myself to even try any on higher difficulties.

Doing all those fun glitches with friends

  • 12.13.2011 4:35 PM PDT

Here's Forty Shillings on the Drum,
For those who Volunteer to come,
to list and fight and fall today
over the hills and far away

Probably this. Me and my friend couldn't stop laughing at the sheer luck.

There are just too many moments in Halo 3 that were simply amazing. That's why Halo 3 holds a special place in my heart, it was my first true online multiplayer experience and I will cherish it always.

One kill where I accidentally used a grenade to throw two bodies in the air that where placed just delicately enough to make a spartan laser blast backfire at the tip of the gun into the wielder's face.

I think that was the day that I officially declared my absolute love for Bungie. It was so amazing to see such unconnected objects work together to make a seemingly impossible, unbelievable and inconceivable random and unwarranted kill.
