Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Why not. H2V isn't a true PC game anyway. Might as well put it on the platform that holds maybe 1% of the gaming market share.

He is not trying to do anything. He is suggesting that making Halo 2 available for Mac would be a good idea.

Making a game that is hardly compatable with most Windows PCs for the Mac is a horrible idea. Even if they did port it correctly, I can't imagine someone being able play in even 500x500 resolution at 30 FPS. They just do not run games.

If Apple were to make an upgradable Mac then that might (MIGHT) be a different story.

I wasn't agreeing with him, I'm saying that is what the OP is proposing. I say it's a terrible idea to own a Mac if you want to play any games on it at all.

Modern Macintosh systems are quite capable of running Halo 2. Mid-2011 iMacs can run Battlefield 3 on decent settings.

However, Microsoft will never allow Halo 2 to be ported to the Mac platform.

You were saying?

I'm sure none of us were meaning that modern macs couldn't run Halo 2 if ported to it. That would be silly. It still remains that games, in general, have better performance on the PC platform when compared to their Mac counter-parts.

When I expressed that I felt you should never buy a Mac when looking to play games on a PC, (Personal Computer, not specific to Windows-PC) I meant that they're generally not a great platform to play games on. With no customization or any sort of way to upgrade them other than buying an entirely new one they're impractical as a gaming platform. Along with that there aren't nearly as many games available for it as there are on the PC.

I believe that CE was released for OSX because it was originally in development for the Mac platform when the IP was purchased by Microsoft.

Yes, I know Halo CE is around for Mac OS. I believe that CE was released for OSX because it was originally in development for the Mac platform when the IP was purchased by Microsoft.
That really has nothing to do with it. If that were the case it would have been released along side the Xbox release, not 2 years afterwards.

Halo 2 was also intended to be the big game of Vista. Any plans to later release it for Mac wouldn't make sense if Microsoft was using the game as a marketing tool.

Yes, because Microsoft needs Halo 2 Vista for the advertisement of Windows Vista in 2011/2012, right?

The only reason stopping Microsoft from releasing a Mac version of Halo 2 would be due to the fact they know it would fail. They would definitely lose money off of it regardless of what they'd do with it. That's the only reason.

Develop offers an interesting teaser from its forthcoming interview with former vice president of game publishing at Microsoft Ed Fries, who notes that he was personally tasked with appeasing Apple CEO Steve Jobs after Microsoft acquired game developer Bungie Studios in 2000. Bungie had been a prominent game developer for the Mac platform, but Microsoft's acquisition enabled it to scoop up Bungie's Halo project and turn it into an Xbox exclusive.
"As soon as we announced we bought Bungie, Steve Jobs called," Fries said.

"He was mad at [Microsoft CEO Steve] Ballmer and phoned him up and was angry because we'd just bought the premier Mac game developer and made them an Xbox developer."
Fries goes on to note that Microsoft and Apple reached a deal that saw Microsoft help port a handful of PC games to the Mac platform. As part of the deal, Fries appeared on-stage with Jobs at Macworld New York in 2000 in order to reassure Mac users about the partnership between Microsoft/Bungie and Apple.

It does not.

The port was a failure. There would be no point.

Mid-2011 iMacs can run Battlefield 3 on decent settings.

Yet cost significantly more than custom-built PCs that can run the game at max settings. Yay Mac!

Quite true. I'm not promoting Macs over PCs for gaming.

My mac runs halo 2 vista 20 better than my friends pc and it is 2 years newer than my mac. AND i run it at halo 2's max resolution. You need to stop hatting, macs would be able to run it no problem, and due to the fact that all of osx is built for the hardware it runs on specifically that makes everything run twice as fast than a pc with the same hardware and allows software to run on your machine so much more better.
