In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

that sucks for regular users with no equivalent tool. You have no way of removing things that anger or annoy you
This is why I don't like how community members being nominated as Forum Ninjas. They think that they're the law now. No OP, you can't do that just because you find something annoying. That's you're opinion to what you think is annoying. Other people could see it as something that's not annoying. If it's spam, then I understand.
I see you as the kid who, if they had it their own way, would report every opinion you thought to be stupid. If it were like that, these forums would be terrible, because someone like you would probably report or (if your wish came true) ignore everyone you, in your opinion, find posting annoying crap
I really think you shouldn't be a forum ninja.

Edit: You'd ignore this too wouldn't you? (Rhetorical)

I agree with this in some ways, why should people be shunned (yes this is shunning) for not breaking any rules.

This is NOT how a good community should be, we should all try and be friends, not this censor people we don't like.

That attitude will ruin this community.

I think this is a great idea. Even if it just hides all posts from a specific user from view, it would still be beneficial. If you can't see it, you can't be annoyed/ angered by it.

That is not how you should deal with people you have a disagreement with. This forum can't handle this if it was made and the community forum would collapse.

Maybe I should elaborate. I think this would be a good mechanism in place to help avoid spam. Take the infamous John Cena. He creates a new username every other day or so and trolls the forums with it. With a handy tool, I could just block his username from any and all forum postings.

I see it more as a spam filter rather than an "I don't agree with you" type of tool.

I came here to destroy enemies of my arguments with flourishes of my rapier forged from the skulls of debaters I have slain.

Not to be chummy with everyone I see.

People that constantly post in an annoying manner or post meatspin links would be the only ones affected by this.

I have the same feeling towards you & your post just now. Which means you're a hypocrite, & in the end, you wouldn't like it either. So, it's actually the ignorant people like you, who don't think before they type. So at times that ignore button would work for me too if I could ignore the people like you. (Now you see it would be bad right? If someone found you to be annoying, so they ignored you.)
I really do find you annoying.

I already know I'm not going to like your post. Or you. You think that the fact that he's stating that it sucks for regular members without moderation abilities that they can't moderate things that are clearly rule breaking, is him "being the law"? No.

You're just being obnoxiously "against authority".

No OP, you can't do that just because you find something annoying. That's you're opinion to what you think is annoying.

He's not saying you should be able to ban someone or lock a thread because you think they/it are/is annoying. He's saying that it sucks we can't moderate rule breakers right as we see them.

see you as the kid who, if they had it their own way, would report every opinion you thought to be stupid.

That's not what he's saying either. Did you read the OP? It's about censoring your OWN experience. Not reporting random (annoying) posts as rule breaking. Hardly anyone reports posts just because they find them annoying, and that's not what anything in the OP is about.

because someone like you would probably report or (if your wish came true) ignore everyone you, in your opinion, find
posting annoying crap

So you're attempting to illegitimize the points he's saying in his OP because of the fact that you have a certain (baseless) opinion of him that, as it turns out has nothing to do with the content in the OP.

Edit: You'd ignore this too wouldn't you? (Rhetorical)

You're not special, man.

There's nothing that says he has to come back and respond to your post. He's not even in the thread anymore. Stop being ignorant.

I would love for something like this to happen, but I would want a way to un-ignore them.

Probably just keep it like coup. You can go to your profile and remove them from your "blocked list" if you want. Or perhaps by sending them a PM would unblock their posts just like the PM system.

By the use of profane language, we're obviously not on the same page & you do obviously care. You want that feature, I don't. Shut your mouth.

I think that the "blocked list" would work better because you might forget about who you've blocked since you wouldn't be able to see them. I believe that this feature would be a must for any ignore system.

On topic. I like this idea. If people didn't want to see your threads they would hide you, which would leave only the people who are willing to discuss the topic left.

I think Achronos shares similar feelings in how he wishes users to experience the site, at least from past comments he's made. It's apparent though that apparently people just don't have faith in their fellow man that things won't go to pieces with content control tools.

My use of profane language has absolutely nothing to do with this. I do not care at all if you can or can't read my posts. By same page I was not referring to our stance on the subject discussed in the OP but rather the opinion we have of each other (which if I might add, was brought up by you).

Learn to read.

I see both sides of the coin here. On one hand, it would be nice to block some people, although I can't think of anyone I'd use it on off the top of my head.

On the other hand, I can see how it would be annoying to see people threatening others with the feature ("I'm going to ignore you if you keep posting") and to have people ignoring opinions they don't agree with, instead of discussing them. And how would this work with quoting?

No you wouldn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 'Sena spam' is done on new accounts each time.

After the first posting each time, I could ignore it. It would still help.

I would honestly respect you so much more, Ken, if you would just admit that you're against this because of how many people you know would "ignore" you.

And if you honestly think the community would COLLAPSE, then God help you.

Xbox Live has the ability to block communication with and voice chat from any gamertag. Is the Xbox Live community collapsed? Or is it still a thriving community of gamers who just don't interact with people they don't like?

The latter.
